Best songs for strippers Hey y'all, I've been offered an audition to Dj in a So Calif Strip club. I wanna know what the org regs think are good stripper songs. I'm already leaning toward Prince/The Time, PFunk and hiphop, but what are some good rock or pop tunes to spin.
Appreciate the suggestions. test

"Lights, Camera, Action"--(My man) Mr. Cheeks. Love this song! I don't know if it can be stripped to, but seems like a good lap dance song, or pole working song. I imagine.

I tend to end up at strip clubs at the end of the night with my friends (I'm a girl, in case you were wondering). They're a fun place to go at 2 a.m. Anyway, they ALWAYS play either:
Welcome to the Jungle by Guns and Roses or Back in Black by ACDC and of course tons of Prince, most likely Erotic City. First off let me say that most of the dancers are gonna pick which songs they perform to.
Second let me say that some of my ( cough, cough ) favorite ( cough ) moments with strippers were to the following songs: Janet: Funny How Time Flies (When you're Having Fun) D'Angelo: Cruisin' Mary J. Blige: I'm Going Down Juvenile: Back Dat Ass Up Aaliyah: Hot Like Fire (lp version) I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

My roomate Florie used to dance, right up until last spring. The girl put herself through college, straight A's. She's a huge Prince fan too, but she said the dudes in her particular club often didn't like that music as much as hip hop, so she kept it to things like "Cream" and "Gett off" . I saw her dance once to "PONY" by Ginuwine(?) and people went bananas----something about that song! I gave her my PC Munoz CD with "Skin City" (the one that goes "he got kicked in the head by a stripper, talkin' about thigh-high boots to the kisser!"), and that went over real well with the dancers and the crowd. She also tried some old fashioned music--like those old "Music to Strip by" tunes with tons of horns and stuff, and the crowd loved the different flavor--maybe that's a good way to go. ANd I have to agree with "I Touch Myself"---guys go crazy when a dancer mouths the words and "acts it out."

That's an easy one, "Pussy Control" by Prince. I saw it at a south carolina strip joint once, so appropriate.

were I a dj at a strip club
(oh my goodness!) I would have in my rotation, among others : chain lightening / Steely Dan let's do it again / Staple Singers fopp / Ohio Players darling nikki / Prince - as obvious as this choice would be sex shooter / Apollonia 6 temptation / Prince affection / Ta Mara & the Seen we can funk - the original, "non-Grafitti Bridge" version / Prince yeah I would definitely play songs that I consider to be "sexy", but also songs most people might not be so familiar with.. I'll see you tonight..

that's the stupidest song and low budget video EVER. I can't help but laugh at it. But I guess a song that repeatedly urges women to "pull them panties off" is perfect for a stripper. typo/add on edit [This message was edited Thu Aug 5 22:55:36 2004 by HelloKittyIsMyFriend] Four strings across the bridge. As someone who knows what she is talking about...
It depends, is it a gentleman's club? Are the girls mostly white or black? White strippers and hip-hop don't generally go well together (no offense, it's the truth). Black strippers don't wanna hear metal or rock, men go there to see Black women shake their ass! Stay away from 1990's hip-hop (unless it's Luke). Start off with something uptempo (2 songs) and then switch to something slow (1 song). The girls usually show their "skills" during the fast songs and then start stripping on the second or third song. Keep the fast-fast-slow rythm in mind. Just play like you're at a party and pay attention to the type of people that are there. You'll do just fine. BTW, can I ask which club it is?

It depends, is it a gentleman's club? Are the girls mostly white or black? It's a strip club. I'm not sure what the difference is. Please enlighten me. There's nary a sista in sight. The ones that might qualify are mixed and very "hi-yella". White strippers and hip-hop don't generally go well together (no offense, it's the truth). The dancers are mostly white and hispanic. The hip-hop comes from the Latinas and a few wigger-chicks. Black strippers don't wanna hear metal or rock, men go there to see Black women shake their ass! Stay away from 1990's hip-hop (unless it's Luke). You're absolutely right on the former and mostly right on the latter. DU, Tone Loc do fine. Too Short totally kicks ass. "OPP" should work. Rap pre-90s that wasn't political was comical and not nasty at all. Shit's out of control nowdays. Start off with something uptempo (2 songs) and then switch to something slow (1 song). The girls usually show their "skills" during the fast songs and then start stripping on the second or third song. Keep the fast-fast-slow rythm in mind. It's kind of moot. WE only play 2 minutes of a song and it may be what the dancer herself requests. DJs play their choice on break songs. Just play like you're at a party and pay attention to the type of people that are there. You'll do just fine. Thanks I didn't have any doubts. The owner told me to bring my own music, as the club does not have its own music library. BTW, can I ask which club it is? Do you dance in So Calif or know the area? If so, org-note me and I'll tell you. I'm on newbie status for the first 4days. Means I'm "in training" and sharing the shift, while I learn the ropes.
