Billy Corgan hints at the reason for the breakup of Zwan... http://www.billycorgan.com
The 8/3 post has a mention of some bad blood between he and the former members of Zwan, and alludes to why they broke up. He hasnt had much luck with bandmates in the past few years has he, LOL.

maybe the fact that zwan wasn't that good of a band played a part in the breakup?

Of course you know you can't talk about other artists' egos without acknowledging Prince's on this site (some newer fans seem to think Prince is never put on blast on his own site). This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I'm still a little shocked at how their fan base fell off after "Mellon Collie...". I mean I've heard of fan fickleness but c'mon. The same thing happened to REM.

Zwan were the poor man's Smashing Pumpkins... their CD was pretty uneventful. I dissagree, I pulled out the CD the other day and enjoyed a few songs. It's not Smashing Pumpkins, but it has it's moments. I actually really think Paz added a lot to Corgan, goo vocals, good bass playing, I mean hell, she was a lot more exciting than Darcey's boring ass. And you can't really go wrong with Jimmy Chamberlin on drums. As far as SP, their fan base sure did drop off after mellon collie. I actually really like Adore, the follow up to that. It's kinda the same way around the world in a day followed up purple rain. Not really comercailly succesful but very artistically successful

Well Im a hardcore Corganite, I was one of the lucky few who got to go to the private recording sessions in April, we spoke face to face about a lot of things, Hip Hop, and the state of music today in general. He said some pretty harsh things about Pajo, and from what I get out of the whole thing is simply that the other band members work ethic was a lot different. As far as Zwan's Mary Star Of The Sea, it has some real strong tracks, the title track Jesus I/Mary Star Of The Sea is pure guitar bliss, how any Rock fan could not like that track is beyond me. The thing is, Corgan like so many others, is caught in the Prince trap. If you repeat yourself people will say the band is not evolving, if you do something different, Adore, Machina one, then people say they like the Mellon Collie days and I wish he would just rock like that. Damned if you do damned if you dont.

Clearly, you're the more serious SP fan and defer to your knowledge on the music. I just didn't think the CD was that interesting, IMO. VOTE....EARLY

Personally, I loved Zwan, and I thought Machina was one of their best albums. Actually, the Pumpkins don't have any albums I don't like.
