Should i give Avril Lavigne some money to buy a dirty mind?

I think Avril knows she wants to drop the bad girl image and move into the dirty girl image. She can't hide it, so she might as well show us some skin.

Avril Outgrows Abstinence Phase Portrayed In 'Don't Tell Me'

Growing up is complicated for Avril Lavigne, 19, who releases Under My Skin this week, a follow-up to her hit 2002 debut CD, Let Go.

Your new single, Don't Tell Me, stumps for sexual abstinence. Is that something you believe in?

I wrote that when I was 17, and I was going through the phase in high school where every guy has ulterior motives. I don't think I would have written it now. I thought it was a good message, for girls to be strong.

Have you gone back and listened to your first album recently?

When I was making this record I did. I was like, Oh, my God, I sound like a little kid.

Rumor has it you don't like your big hit, Complicated.

I hate it. It's hard to sing. My voice goes really low in the verse, and it always cracks. But I have to sing it because everyone likes it.

You've developed a reputation as someone who enjoys a few drinks. Is that deserved?

My last tour I was drinking all the time. I'm superhealthy this time because I'm watching my sugar levels. My diet before was just a mess. Pizza, mozzarella sticks, pancakes.

Back to the drinking ...

I only drink now when there's a party. I don't drink every night after the show anymore. That makes me sound like I was an alcoholic, which I wasn't.

But you have been in a bar fight.

That's true. Some girl came up to me and started it. She said, You ruined punk rock. I said, What? Then she said it again. So I kicked her and punched her, and she got tossed out of the bar. The pathetic thing is, I heard she wanted an autograph too.

Man, where do these people live? I keep hearing about how Kelly Osbourne and Lindsey Lohan drink alcohol at all these clubs. Did they lower the legal drinking age to 15 or something? I guess this is one of the perks to being famous at a young age. lol That girl walked up to her and told her she ruined punk rock. falloff That's hilarious! Sounds like something I would do, except Avril wouldn't be kicking my ass. They would be throwing me out for beating her ass down with my size 9 Converse.

I detest that Avril sounds like a clone of Alanis now.

I know before they got comparisons because they are both tormented fem rockers from Canada. But Avril sounded one way on her first album. On Under My Skin she's adopted Alanis' distinctive warble and vocal delivery ... as if it's some free-for-all Canadian dialect.

With Alanis being one of my favorites, I can't stand it. Style thief.

There's not enough money on this earth for Avril to be able to buy what she needs the most-talent.

Maybe she could buy a procedure to get Pro Tools installed into her so when she "sings" it'll be in key? biggrin

We can dream at least.

OK, so the majority of you think that Avril sucks. But can one of you honestly tell me that you can do better than her?? I somehow doubt it. I know that some of my views are a little askew, but I still have an open mind. You should try it sometime.

I actually liked her first album. I don't dislike her. I just said that she wasn't going to be kicking my ass. She's more pop than punk and there is nothing wrong with that. I give her props for being one of the few female artists out now who doesn't dress like she works the corner of 5th and Main. Please, Avril, don't fall into the "ho behavior" trend.

clearly this is the first obvious and most appropriate response.

To be honest i think i could do better than Avril. Her cds are really good but when i got her live DVD she sounded pretty crappy. So maybe that's what Prince is talking about.

Avril has good range but her voice is still crappy live.
I still give her credit for coming out of Napanee Ontario whaich is literally nowhere and rising to the top.
