Clear Channel How much stuff does Clear Channel own? I know they own a LOT of radio stations. They also own television stations.
I heard they also own some entertainment venues such as auditoriums and coliseums. I read somewhere that they bought the patent to the machine that can record a concert and make a CD of the same concert that you just attended. I also read that they are wanting to charge the recording artists, performing the concert, the use of the machine. I have also heard they have bought stage plays and other forms of entertainment that could be presented at a venue. I read here on the org, that they tried to buy the club First Avenue. It appears to me that they are trying to control music from every aspect. If they control the radio, they can only let us hear the new stuff that they want to hear. If they control the entertainment venues, they can let us see only the artists they want us to hear. If they buy up stage plays, they can control another form of our entertainment. Now they are trying to control the nightclubs we go to. What's next? Are they going to start buying the record stores too? Just how much stuff do they own and why isn't there some kind of law against their manipulation? They are trying to take over the world. Andy is a four letter word.

It will be interesting to see if Congress will break them up like they did Ma Bell (Phone Company).

Congress was on their ass for the CC monopoly, but things have quieted down recently. And I don't want to talk about it. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Another question I have is why do their stations play the same songs over and over? I read on another thread that the way the singles chart is determined now is from the amount of airplay the songs receive. I can see their manipulation very clearly with new songs but what are they getting out of it from the old songs?
There is an oldies station here that plays music from the 1960s and 1970s. This is two decades with thousands of songs but yet they play only a handful of songs several times a day, every day. If I were to start a radio station and just play just R&B from 1975 to 1985, you would never hear the same song played in the same day. It would probably be a month later before you would hear that song again. That is just one decade and one genre of music. They are are playing two decades of two genres, R&B and rock, but yet you hear the same songs over and over. Are the record companies paying them to play these songs? Another question, I know music on a lot of stations are programmed into a computer and the computer plays the music and the DJ pre-records his/her voice and puts it in the computer also. They must be on the air live in the morning and at 5:00 p.m. because they are talking about local traffic. My question is, do these stations have only one local DJ? The station I was talking about earlier, changed it's format last year. It used to be only R&B from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. They changed their format to R&B and rock from the 60s and 70s. I looked on their web site and saw the DJs. Some times when I get bored at work, I will go on the internet and find out of town radio stations to listen to on the computer. On several of the web sites, I saw one of the same DJs that was on this local station. They are trying to control music on a nationwide basis. Andy is a four letter word.

I beleive that they play the same shitty song over and over for brain control. Basically, the want maniputlate thses young minds into buying same old sappy PoP Music. As for computer programmed stations, I believe you assesstment on it is correct. I heard that they have someone from the weather afflilated organizations do the weather and traffic spots. The days of having a live DJ play diffferent music is gone. When you think about it, you can't help but wonder is this the start of world domination? "What's wrong, wrong with the world today. Things just got to get better." [Edited 9/4/04 8:31am]
