yeah....could have been my words... she's a racist! How is she a racist? I'm assuming you mean bigoted, but that's a different story altogether. I've heard a few people say "she's racist," and then not follow it up with anything.

this is my first time hearing of such alligations...what did she say? I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back. I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there. I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish. And I am

my assumption is that these folks are referencing the race-oriented slurs and remarks ms. hill made during an interview that never actually happened. write this one down in the record books under "celebrity myths that just won't die." the "interview" was actually a spoof on the howard stern show...lauryn wasn't even in the studios. slowly but surely this turned into "my friend's sister (or brother, cousin, stepfather, etc.) saw lauryn hill on mtv saying...", though nobody really saw the interview themselves.

whatever. i never even heard about an mtv interview.
i saw her with the fugees in 1995 at first avenue....and she was talking racist-ly. she does not like white people. and from what she was saying up there..she believes that they are inferior. (i am not even going to attempt to try and quote something that i heard 9 years ago) i was sooo excited to go to the show, and once she got up there on that stage and talking that shit.... i looked around....and noticed that half the audience was white. in my head i went....ok you got got your money from me....im leaving...and i did just that. i walked out. the one and only concert that i ever walked out on. Yeah, I'll chalk this one up to urban myth and make believe. Anyone I've heard talk about bigoted remarks she said were on this skit on Howard Stern or "I can't recall exactly what she said, but it was racist."

Lauryn Hill seems to be planning a big return to the music biz. Sony employees say that the singer has been in contract negotiations and is planning to release a new album by November. The album is expected to boast contributions from Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, and might include a reunion with Wyclef Jean.

About all this "racist" stuff, I never heard anything about it. I'm guessing some of y'all have sensitive ears
Makes me curious as to whether her comments were truly "anti-White" or simply "pro-Black" - there IS indeed a difference, but some people can't see it. Takes me back to the "Prince is racist!" moans of TRC time... . [This message was edited Sun Aug 1 20:35:11 2004 by CalhounSq]

Man, I can't believe that folks are taking a BULLSHIT rumor to heart like that
Ok, here's a qoute she made in Honey magazine 1997 defending herself about it, I'm going to type that part : "Some kid said that I don't like white folks listening to my music. And hearing that hurts alot becoz I've alwaysed looked at my music as universal, it doesn't exclude anybody in order to fit a certain group. Duke Ellington never labeled his music in order to make association with black people and exclude the rest? Thats abusred, becoz you know what? Once you're related to somebody's pain, you're not excluded". Hope this put that dumb ass rumor to rest.

Let them mis-interpret that line, thats their problem! One thing 4 sho, L-Boogie got much bigger problems to solve than go to sleep at night worrying about what some gossiping punk said about her and led everybody to believe what seems to be a VERY dumb rumor. Those people are pissed about what she don't think of at all.

all I know is she has alot of kids with Rohan Marley and I believe he still nver married her he may even still be married to the other women he was married to when he got Lauren pregnant the first time and we all know Rohan's father was mixed black and white so that would mean her kids are mixed with white.

Violett must've been high at the L-Boogie concert...I had the pleasure of doing a show with the Fugees....L-Boogie is NOT a racist...She's very conscious of her culture, but not racist....

Well I gotta say that I'm not really concerned with where she's at. I thought that The Miseducation Of... was terribly overrated and the fact that she's basically been gone the last 6 years only validates that opinion. If she comes back with a strong release I'll buy it but I'm more concerned with the fate of Chinese Democracy!

I don't feel "Miseducation" was over-rated at all. It was definitely THE release of 1998. But from what I've read Lauryn didn't take the success well. She basically flaked. Now she's recording and obsessing over getting 100% credit for the new album, which an insider says will blow everyone away for its innovative sounds. I for one am psyched, but I do understand Lauryn is in real emotional stress at the moment.
