In The Rain/Have You Seen Her? These two cuts are brilliant. I have loved these two songs all of my life. I remember when I was little, I used to play these songs to death. I used to play the beginning of "Have You Seen Her" over and over, because of that coldblooded fuzz tone on the guitar. I loved that shit! I loved "In The Rain" also because of that excellent echo on the guitar. The guitar sounded like water. Interesting that both songs were released in 72 and both went to #1 on the charts. The Dramatics, who did "In The Rain" and The Chi-Lites "Have You Seen Her" were great groups and they held their own against the mighty Stylistics who was always bringing the heat. Get started player, get started! Talk about it! maaaaan, that rain sound.. and that guitar with the echo fallin in... back then using echo was a biiiiig thang, like the Lost generations "sly, slick and the wicked" hearing In the rain for the 1st time when i was little drew me that much closer to soul than i already was... it got so bad my mom bought me my own 45 for my close n play.. ( can ya dig it?) now the chi-lites?... sheeeeeit.... Eugene record doin his thing on Vocals...cuts like Coldest days of my life,Letter to myself,Livin in the footseps of another man, 24 hours of sadness. cant go wrong with these cats...true unbelievable amazing soul Music for the mind and spirit..

2 great tunes, no doubt.
That intro guitar sound on Have You Seen Her though cool, cracks me up. It makes me think that the producer told an R&B/Jazz session cat they needed a rock sound. So the cat digs out of his equipment bag a $10 fuzz box and patches it into his $5000 Gibson L5. (The Dramatics cop that sound on Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get) Wilson Pickett upgraded that sound (a bit) on Engine Number 9. I thought I had her in the palm of my hand. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Kind of like The Persueders "Thin Line Between Love & Hate" well shit, in Thin line... the woman kicks the livin fuck outta his ass... In the much later cover by Chrissie Hynde/The Pretenders,it is implied that the woman of the tune attempts suicide,in other words, in that version it is she who's at the hospital... I love both songs especially "Have You Seen Her" with the talk in the front. In the 1970s, when the artist would break down and start talking, that's what was known as the "rap". Rap used to be an entirely different meaning. Andy is a four letter word.
