Was there some type of rivalry between Prince & Michael Jackson before? It seems everyone compares them to each other and it says at the top of the page about not speaking too bad about MJ.
I don't understand how there is any comparison between them. Prince is the greatest of all time, while Michael can dance good and write some of his songs.

So as far as magazines, and public perception were concerned, YES. Besides that I don't know if there was any rivalry between them personally. I never really thought of them as competetors. Even though their music is catagorized the same I never really saw similarties as far as their artistry. I hear what you're saying though. A few months backs I was talking to a co-worker about Prince; her response was... "I never really got into Prince. I was more into Michael Jackson." mmmmm'k. So I sort of understand why people compare them, then again I don't.

One thing I will commend MJ on before this thread is closed is that he managed to become the biggest pop star of the 80's with only two albums in the decade.

True. I was always amazed how many records has Mj sold considering number of albums he has released. I mean people always say that he´s not the only one to have reached such high sale numbers, that other artists have sold hunderts of millions recordss, but with how many albums? All those legends like Beatles, Stones, Elvis, Madonna and I don´t know who else released number of times more albums than MJ and that´s what makes him the one and only King of Pop!

dare I say it, MJ is one of the greatest musicians of all time. A musical genius he is you can not deny it.

some of you guys think a musician is someone who play instruments. which is wrong. singers,songwriters,instrumentalists etc they are all musicians.

Did you people know Prince was supposed to be on MJ's "bad" song and video, but he said no because he knew MJ could make it a #1 hit without him.
I learned this on the new version of his Bad cd which had commentary and crap

Everyone wants to compare them because both are black and both have androgynous looks. They have never been rivals. The only rivalry Prince has had was with Rick James.

I read that Prince had a thing 4 latoya.....in the very early days around the late 70's maybe.....then again in mid 80's around MJ's house Prince asked her out again!

Prince could of made good records 4 latoya, Full force did.....and latoya could of been big with Prince's backing.....beats Taja sevelle anyday!
