RUSH fans? i just "discovered" Rush.
Well... i've always known about them, of course. I actually bought the PRESTO cd when it came out, and I still love it. And I knew some of their other songs here and there, like TOM SAWYER, of course. It was my love for TOM SAWYER that recently inspired me to buy the CD from which it comes, MOVING PICTURES. I noticed that all of Rush's Mercury albums had been recently remastered, so I though MOVING PICTURES would be a good place to really start delving into the Rush catelogue. I've really been blown away by it - what an incredible album. I remember in the early 80's when I was a kid watching MTV and listening to Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Culture Club, Duran Duran, Prince, Eurythmics, etc... that Rush seemed like the height of cool to me. A little over my head. I remember their album covers, in particular GRACE UNDER PRESSURE when it came out, and I thought... okay, this is a cool band, but not quite my thing. It took me long enough but I've finally figured out why I thought they were so cool 20 years ago. Now i'm working my way through the Rush catelogue and learning more about them. Any other fans out there? It's exciting to find a band that has such a vast catelogue of music, and to be able to discover it and go back and hear all the old albums for the 1st time.... it's very cool.

My
People lump Rush into prog rock just to give it a name but unlike prog rock they are still touring and selling albums. IMO, people will still be figuring out Rush in another 20 years, they're perspective and musicanship make them an amazing band. Live, they're perfect, almost a little too perfect. I've grown to like some albums that I didn't like by listening to live versions. The live albums are all my fav's but I've got to hit the skip button when I hear Spirit of the Radio or Tom Sawyer, justed played out after 30 years.
