Does anybody out there remember this song by Hi-Enegry you can't turn me off (not in the middle of turnin me on) that was the shit back in the day I think it was 1977. I always thought Envouge could do killer cover of this. what do you guys think.

I thought you were talking about Hi-energy music. Sort of disco/techno/dance from the mid 80's. IE...the group Lime.

"You Can't Turn Me Off (In The Middle Of Turning Me Off)" was originally recorded by Millie Jackson in 1976 and her version was released as a single.Unfortunately,it bombed.In late 1977,Motown act Hi-Inergy released their own version and it quickly went to Number One on the R&B charts. (This is a topic for another thread..."Songs that became hits when performed by another artist" lol).I remember having the 45 single back in the day,but I have since found the vinyl album which includes the long extended version.It's a very powerful song,with sexy lyrics and a wonderful vocal arrangement.I love how the lead singer goes wild at the end,ad libbing lines like "Give it to me,give it to me,give to me!....cause I'm ready ready ready...don't stop now,hey!".When she implores her lover to "take me to that special place",you know exactly what she is talking about.
