Admit it: Before the scandal erupted you were sold on Milli Vanilli, weren't you?

That's right, Rob and Fab were replacements for your Prince and George Michael posters hanging on your wall, weren't they? lol

That is, until you found out that they were just a bunch of phonies trying to make a buck off some old washed up session singers. Hey, you would've done the same thing if you were Milli Vanilli and struggling to become a superstar. wink

It's alright, dude. I actually kinda dug them myself. I mean, the songs weren't that bad at the time, even though they didn't really sing them.

Yeah, I mean 90% of "artists" on the charts are fake anyways. If they actually sing the songs, they're usually still altered in studio, produced by competent people, written by other competent people, with samples ripped off by previous generations of competent people. And how many artists lip-sync on stage?

So if you like the song, who cares if the image is fake. Enjoy music for the music, that's all there is to it.

I loved them, still do. I love "Blame it on the rain"

I remember when they cam out as Rob & Fab and had a single called "We can get it on" They played it on Video Soul a few times. It was decent. No one was willing to give them a chance though. Sad, their story.

NO! I never got myself any of their records! no no no!

and that "scandal" was not a big surprise really, was it? Their producer pulled the same stunt years before with Boney M... dunno about the US but in Europe from day one music magazines widely spread the word that Milli Vanilli do not sing themselves. So no big thing when the bubble finally burst

I really liked their music. But I will say this. and it is a stereotype, sorry.
But when I heard the song on the radio, I wonder which one sung the song because the voice was booming, very large. And my image of a person with a voice like that was Gerald Levert, ya know, big, sweating but can really blow. When I saw the video and I saw the little short, light skinned with blue eyes singing that... I thought to myself, "no way that big voice came outta that vanilla cupcake".
Now, I have been wrong before, because I didn't believe that was Whitney's voice out of such a skinny girl.. and I was wrong. But look at examples, Jennifer Holiday, Aretha Franklin (both big) Patti Labelle, GErald and Eddie Levert, (sweat like they are in a sauna).
So I really wasn't surprised when the scandal broke, just disappointed.

Love their album I got called "2x2"! Has a handful of remixes at the end and the remixes r actually very good in a soul 2 soul type way! Quite weird 4 milli vanilli remixes anyway! Still listen to the remixes and whole album!

1)Baby dont forget my no.
2) More than u'll ever know
3) Can u feel my love

Yes, the lyrics r beyond corny, but the production now sounds funky fresh and great to dance too! Catchy too! Ever realized how simular "Baby don't forget my no" and "Girl u know it's true" are? I prefer "baby....." though

Their vids sucked though! "Girl u know it's true" is alright but all r unintentionally funny-they couldn't really even dance-except 4 that morris day/time move they do in "Girl u know it's true"! "Baby don't....." vid is hilairious!

After scandal, the original producer still with the original voices put out a followup album called:-

"The real milli vanilli" (just to further rub Rob and Fab's noses in it)

Album bombed and is rare as hell but bar the first 3 tracks, the album is really shit! It wouldn't of sold with Rob and Fab anyway! Song that would of been huge from it though "Keep on running", is proberly my fav milli vanilli song ever! Very catchy (with Batdance sample "Keep bustin'" repeated a couple of times) and deserved to be huge, shame that.....

Anyone remember their very poor vids or "Keep on trunning"?

Don't put Vanilla ice in same catorgory as the hammer please! I know that hammer was bloody everywhere with his 2nd album "Please hammer don't hurt 'em" but hammer was original and if we have to catorgorize it- it is great pop/rap that is great 2 dance too! Hammer did his own thing and made great videos and was by far the dancer of his generation ('88-'93)-Ice was a watered down fake clone.....

Hammer also opened doors up 4 rap to be more commercial and heard in general and was way better then other rap acts like Tone loc.....Hammer may of sold out to some (i dodn't think he did but thats another story.....) and his pants amy of made him a laughing stock, buy Hammer was a true original and that honestly only happens in rap occasionally!

.....Run DMc, Hammer, Dre and "Nothin' but a g thang", Eminem.....

Thaey all comercially took rap and made it their own.....give it up 4 the Hammer.....

Call up your local radio station and request a Hammer song. This Labor Day while you're partying, blast a Hammer song over the stereo. Go to a club and ask the DJ to play Hammer. Or better yet, you DJ a party and put on Hammer. Do any of these and you'll get yo ass laughed off the block.

So what if radio don't like it and in fact u play "U can't touch this" at a club, guaranteed some silly dancing there...

In fact, I played "pumps and a bump" at a party my mate was DJing and they loved it not realizing it was Hammer at all!

This sort of thing reminds me of certain Prince songs u could play that people would find funky and not realize that it's a Prince song...

"P control"
"Gett off"
"Goldnigga album"
"Loose".....

I thought they blew goats the first time I ever heard them. Bloody awful so-called "music". The first time I ever heard them talk, I KNEW they couldn't be the ones singing. In fact, my mom freaked when the news of the scandal broke! She was like, "oh my gosh, you were right!!"
