Outkast

ok so i resisted buying this album for so long but i quite like that Roses song but now listening to it yes i agree that it is a direct rip off of Camille and that late 80s era Prince. it's good for today's standard of pop music and it's a stand out but yes i believe Prince has influenced this album in a HUGE way.
I'm about to shake my doo loose! - Prince

Yes. Have you listened to any George Clinton or James Brown lately? I hear Prince was REALLY influenced by them!

But true. The album is fun. Which did you like better; Big Boi's or Andre 3000's?

rolleyes

People ALWAYS answer Andre 3000, cuz of the boring factoir involved with people liking Prince...

Yall gotta understand.. there are fans out there who ONLY listen to prince. and when they hear anything close to his style... they think someone's ripping prince off..

Yes, Andre is influenced by Prince.. but lets not compare these guys on a food chain.. their musicians, and musicians feed off inspiration.. regardless of where it comes from..

Vanilla Ice was a thief... I dont consider Prince a thief at all.. his musical styles reflect past styles and music, but he turned his music into his own..

Outkast 4 me. Roses is fine. I personally don't c many similarities between what Outkast offer and what P offers. But that's just me. If there was a similarity that i would pick up on, then all the better since i luv P.

I really like Outkast. They are a lot of fun. Kinda remind me of U.T.F.O. for some reason. Maybe because they had fun with rap and didn't take it too seriously. I mean they were true Hip-Hopsters who did their own thing and kept Hip-Hop fun. Originality and fun doesn't exist too much in rap music today, (IMO ofcourse). Hip-Hop was an era about locking, popping, breaking, and bombing while partying- as it was "all in good fun." Just because someone is rappin', doesn't make it "HIP-HOP." I really appreciate "OUTKAST."
