I can't believe anyone but young girls ever liked them.

They did that poor imitation of Morris & Jerome dance move that just cracked me up.

Why does everyone hate on Vanilla ice, Milli Vanilli and MC Hammer? I liked all of them and still listen to their stuff sometimes. Vanilla Ice rocks!! ppl always try to act like they werent bumping any of this stuff when it first came out... yea right. And even now I still bump it in my car! headbang

"girl you know it's true! oo, oo, oooo, i love you . . . "

and i loved "blame it on the rain." i still remember the video where they were dancing in their little skin-tight-biker-shorts-lookin'-things, and kickin' at the rain puddles. though i never got their sense of style . . . .

Yeah, I admit it...I still have it on cassette somewhere.
Doesn't matter who sang them, the songs were catchy.

The ironic thing is that the songs had the hooks to get
radio play, they didn't have to get a couple of "image"
guys to be in the video's. Like someone else said, I didn't
get their sense of style either. Big shoulder padded jackets
over lycra shorts and black work boots and dreds... shocked
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Ditto.
I was just a young teenager, and I couldn't understand how their accents could be so thick and not carry over into their singing. I kept telling my friends, "somebody else has got to be singing those songs-those dudes can hardly speak english." Nobody believed me, until.....

I'm not old enough to really remember them, but I've heard stories.

Regardless of who was actually doing the singing, I felt sorry for them. Two guys who went along for a shot at fame that no doubt had been done by countless acts before them. Problem is, they got caught. I thought it was sad when I'd heard Rob killed himself.

I actually feel sorry for a good number of pop acts, especially the younger, less-experienced ones. They often have no concept of what they're getting into when Mommy or Daddy signs the contract for them after the initial audition. Every aspect of their life is controlled from there on in. Even adults getting into the entertainment business are often not aware of the full aspects of fame. Amazing in our fame and celebrity-obsessed culture, but true.

Don't believe me? You never wondered why so many child stars and teen idols end up messed up? Why you hear so many stories about depression, drug abuse, criminal activity?

I'm not saying you can blame stupid behaviour entirely on circumstance, but one does have to look at the context. The more I learn about the celebrity "machine" the more I believe it can be a very damaging environment even to a healthy adult, never mind to a child or to someone who has a pre-existing mental illness.

redface Yes I was sold on Milli Vanilli redface I still have the cassette. What a shame.
Saw a show on MuchMusic about them and it showed them doing "Girl You Know It's True" and the show goes array when the words and music repeat over and over. Then you knew that they lip synched. I sure felt ripped off like many of you.

Yeah-Fabrice seems like a cool bloke and he sings quite well! The original voices wern't any better then his average voice really in my book so y did they bother! On a 'behind the music' I saw on VH1- Rob tried singing 4 real and he was terribe I'm afraid! "Land of the free" on The Rob and Fab album (the album they actually sung on) is quite nice though.....

I loved Milli Vanilli's hits, especially "Blame it on the Rain" and "Baby, Don't Forget My Number" I don't understand why they were so vilified. A lot of other groups were fronted by lip syncers, for example Blackbox, C&C Music Factory, and Technotronic. And nowadays it is a given that so many "artists" are *so* helped by the studio, technology and/or back up singers.

Their song "We Can Get it On" from the Rob and Fab album was pretty good. They performed it on Arsenio Hall. "Land of the Free" is ok. The other songs aren't that good though. You can listen to it here. http://www.crapfromthepas...dfablp.htm

In a Time magazine interview, Rob Pilatus boasted: "Musically, we are more talented than any Bob Dylan. Musically, we are more talented than Paul McCartney. Mick Jagger, his lines are not clear. He don't know how he should produce a sound. I'm the new modern rock 'n' roll. I'm the new Elvis" WHAT??? wacky lol
