Good metal and rock has been hard to find since the mid 90's (beginning with the death of Cobain). But I can't ignore Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Kittie, System Of A Down, Ozzy, Godhead.

Everyone must experience a good mosh pit.

i'm all about that stuff.

i've been listening to NIN since i was 10 (1991). also into the new dave navarro album lately (not necessarily heavy metal, but he does a great cover of "venus in furs" by the velvet underground), along with system of a down, tenacious d (acoustic heavy metal?). manson's ok, as long as you realize that its all a character... an actor playing a part.
now i know what this is all about. now i know exactly what i am.

Do I look like a repressed white youth? All kidding aside, I do find myself enjoying a good "metalling" every so often. "Led Zepplin" and "Black Sabbath" are the fore-fathers of the musical genre, and I enjoy them the greatly, if not for their hefty aspirings. Yes, they kick-started a long line of anti-social musical stylings ("Death Metal," "Speed Metal," "Grunge"), but where would we be if it weren't for such guitar virtuosos as James Page?

As for moshing, count me out.

Oh my God! I totally forgot [old] Ministry and [old] NIN. Or how about Skinny Puppy?

Man this is fun!

Would you call Ministry/NIN/Skinny Puppy metal or would you call it industrial? Ugh, I hate labels. Still, if I would have known this music was technically considered METAL, I could have hung out with the stoners when I was in high school instead of getting beat up by 'em. Oh well...

we'd like it to be called "industrial rock", please. those acts are as far removed from metal bands as much as the rolling stones are. altough some al jourgensen's projects have been decidedly very close to metal. well, we do all remember when ministry went metal... the horror. however I still love to raise my fist to "filth pig" when nobody is there to see it...

but where was I? oh, you're the only one? not quite, but very close.

I see now that we need to redefine "Heavy Metal". I thought it was heavy guitars that was loud. Am I wrong?
