Who sings "You're an Obsession"? That may not be the correct title either but the lyrics go something like this:

You're an obsession
You're my obsession
hmm hmm hmmm hmmm hmm hmm ( lol )
to make me sleep with you

Were they a one hit wonder? Love that song...

It's by a band called Animotion and it's from 1985.I'm not sure what other hits they had.

I think the correct lyric is...

"You're my Obsession
You're my Obsession
What do you want me to be
To make you sleep with me" smile

Yes DAVID, I remember Quarterflash..."I'm gonna harden my heart...I'm going to swallow my tears". Great song!!! Man I love the 80's!!! Take me back to my high school years!!!
How about...

* Motels-Only The Lonely/Suddenly Last Summer.

* Paul Davis-Cool Night

* Golden Earrings-Twilight Zone

* Big Country-In A Big Country...I like at the beginning of the song when the lead singer says "HOT!!!"

* A Flock Of Seagulls-Wishing(If I Had A Photograph)...The lead singer Mike Score had the weirdest hairstyle. Did you know that he had a career as a hairdresser before entering the world of music.

Time to get my maxell cassette tapes that have all of my 80's 45 vinyls on them!!!(LOL)!!!

quarterflash had another one out on the radio called "take me to heart" - remember that one?

i found the album at goodwill this summer.

who did that song "you are an obsession - you're my obsession..."

and i think nobody mentioned teena marie's "lovergirl" - that was funky.

A Night in New York - Elbow Bones & the Racketeers

It's funny to see that bands like Human League and Spandau Ballet are considered one (two) hit wonders while they had several hits in the UK and Europe.

And don't forget these...

"Behind The Groove"(1980)
"I Need Your Lovin"(1980)

"Fix It,Baby"(1983)
"Midnight Magnet"(1983)
"Stop The World"(1984)
"Out On A Limb"(1984)
"Ooh La La La"(1988) (a Number One R&B hit)
"Work It"(1988)
"If I Were A Bell"(1990)

I'm waiting for a definitive Teena Marie collection (2-CD set perhaps?) that contains ALL her hits,including the post-Motown stuff.

***Laura Branigan "Self Control"(1984)

***Central Line "Walking Into Sunshine"(1981)---Bro915,do you have any more info about this song? It was an R&B hit in 1981.Heavily-synthesized funk track,with a chorus that goes..."Cause there'll be Sunshine,yes,I'll be Walking Into Sunshine...Sunshine...give me the sun...Sunshine...soon all my rainy days will all be gone..."I have this song on one of my CDs,but I don't know too much about this band.Any details?

***Club Nouveau "Why You Treat Me So Bad?"(1986)

***Nu Shooz "I Can't Wait"(1986)

***Gregory Abbott "Shake You Down"(1986)---I'm not kidding,when this guy came out with this hit,people used to tell me I look just like him...lol..remember him?

***Starpoint "Object Of My Desire"(1986)---"My body screams,please make love to me...cause you're the Object of my Desire,baby,ignite my fire,you're the Object of my Desire,hey you really turn me on"

Laura Branigan a one hit wonder? You must have forgetten that she is also the person that did the eighties English remake of the Italian classic "Gloria". Not only that but check out her other eighites hits. This was taken from Allmusic.com

"Gloria" went to number 2 on the pop charts and was a number 4 club play single. "Solitare" was 7 on the pop singles. "Lucky One" topped out at 20 pop (10 on the dance charts). "Power Of Love" (the same one Celine Dion did) peaked at 26. "How Am I Supposed To Live Without You" (yes, Michael Bolton did it later) was 12 on the pop charts and 3 on the AC. She had some other cuts that charted in the 40s, 50s and 60s . My favorite of hers was "Shattered Glass" which went as high as 13 on the dance charts but only 48 on the Hot 100 and 27 on the AC survey, but you can never find it on a hits collection. Her last "hit" was a cover of "Dim All The Lights" (1995) which only got to number 37 on the dance singles chart. Needless to say, with 4 Top 20 pop hits, its hard to call her a one hit wonder.

I loved Level 42! I saw them in concert years ago. They had more than three hits... Trust! I even have their greatest hits collection. "Star Child" was slammin'! "Lesson's in Love," "Running in the Family"... smile

I was just thinking about Robbie Nevil (The Robbie Williams post reminded me of him--guess it's a "Robbie" thing.) Yeah, where's THAT cat, now?

I haven't gone through this entire thread so excuse me if the following has been repeated:

What ever happened to 9.9 ("All of me for all of you")?

The thing that stands out about Gregory Abbott is that I remember him way before he recorded "Shake You Down" because he was singer Freda Payne's husband. (Back then he had a mustache too.)

Has anyone mentioned Pretty Poison? ("Catch Me I'm Fallin'") I think they're still making music. I believe they also have a greatest hits! Who knew?
