So, I was in a restaurant and on the speakers/radio was this song playing...80's r&b. It was Midas Touch, which I can barely remember. But it sounded SO prince. At first I thought it was Kool and the Gang. I was nah...is it jimmy jam or something of that ilk? Turns out to be Midnight (Gherri Curl) Star...which I own one of their albums ...which has Prince sounds all over it.

Is it me or did all of the R&B artists try and sound like him? then why would he be competeing with MJ if everyone was trying to emulate him?

that music from that time period had a distictive sound....just like 90's grunge....after a while, it all sounds the same....thankfully, prince managed 2 capitalize AND seperate from it...geniu
