Purple Rain Full Version This surely must have been discussed before but I have never seen anything about it here.
The track Purple Rain was cut from 12 minutes something to around 8 mins, and at least one verse and a solo were cut. Has anyone heard this classic in full? This would be a pretty big thing for Prince fans am I right? Since the song was played at that famous gig someone there must remember. Does anyone know the full lyrics? Do they remember what the other solo was like? Do tell. | |

Yeah, it's pretty cool to hear it in full in the live unedited version.
But as far as I know, the circulating quality isn't that great, so perhaps that's why it's not often discussed. Also, it's a lot messier than the album version, and I can see why he edited it. But it's still an opener into the creative process, for sure. Hook yourself up with the Revelations boot and you'll find it amongst many other treasures. | |

That is the one and it is great! Do they remember what the other solo was like? Do tell. The show where it was taken from is "widely" available... The fanmade DVD has even been posted on a.b.m.p, so check it from there... As for the true "full version" (the 12 minute concert version + the studio added orchestration) that one's only for the select few and isn't on some bootleg... Just the added orchestration, without the song, is available on a bootleg I believe... Neversin. O(+>NIИ<+)O
