Anyone else agree that Pheromone is incredibly underrated?

The lyrics are just so dark, somber, twisted, and vulnerable. Truly an intriguing song.

Her eyes are closed, but there's no penetration
He just makes her point the pistol to his nose while he masturbates
And now I see a tear headed down towards her smile

Wow...

And I love the music to it, especially with that cool touch of Prince's mumblings in the background.

Great song.

Totally. nod

Disturbing and dark, yet sexual and breezy.

Yes.

But the unofficial extended version of Race is better and so is Dark.

I've always loved pheremone.

I just didn't understand why he didn't use his "Loose" vocal style on it.

Also, he's very coy about the subject matter.

The song basically is about vaginas. But you have to really pay attention to this one to understand that.

"Loose" is a descriptive song about Mayte's vagina right??

Yes it is underrated. The whole Come CD is unterrated in my opinion.

Even if "initially intended for private use", the Come album is still better than Musicology, in my opinion.

When I first bought Come, I was 12. I didn't know what the hell he was on about. I didn't even know what an "orgasm" was. Still, I liked it. nod

Yes it is freaky, just like I like it. I think that the the whole CD was awsome. It also saddens me that Prince has decided 2 put this style of music behind him. I sooooo love him 4 the freaky stuff.....

"Pheromone", "319", and "In This Bed I Scream" are my favorite jams from the 1990s.

thumbs up! damn...beat me to it.

Actually Come is one of my favorites. I am not sure why. I came upon it by pure accident...no pun intended. I love practically every song on there. To me it's one of the few that has no filler or "skippers" during the 90's era.

I LOVE THIS SONG! Sadly, it never gets any airplay at my parties cause the
freekin' introduction to this song is SO LONG! It takes a good 30-40 seconds
for this song to kick in. WTF???
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

How dare anyone insult that sweet tight thing! (although after Tommy Lee, i guess tightness is debatable)

"Loose" is most obviously a song about Larry Graham: a big dry, desolate, war-torn saggy old cunt

As for Pheremone,a pure classic - name any other artist in music that could've/would've created such a masterpiece - unfortunately, with that JW old "loosey" standing over his shoulder, chances are you'll never hear this classic live again or never see the release by P of another similar masterpiece with this vibe on it again.... sad really

The video 4 Pheremone is great - and I loved Race (original and video) and the original mix of Come is just freakin SUPERB!!!!

I love "Come"! Check out my avatar! It is always what I listen to when I need to get pumped up for something!

I miss the old raunchy stuff. If my mother would have realized what I have been listening to all these years she would have peed her pants!

I agree that Pheromone and the whole album are completely underrated!

I totally agree. That Cd is the one that I always come back to when I really want
to capture the Prince, that I love, the one that speaks to me. Wherever he
was in life with that one, is for better or worse a thing of the past it seems. It's
jazzy , sexy, rock, funky and the lyrics so real.

come back prince, light the future

My friend sent me this song, and I have been in love with it ever since. From his deep, sexy, mysterious intro to the solid end it captures you into a crazy, but incredible story. To me Pheromone takes you on a rollarcoster ride and I love it. I love the intro (waves crashing, Prince speaking in my ear.). Its a awesome song and is terribly(sp?) underrated.
