I was shopping in the DVD section of a Virgin Megastore (NYC) last night and The Hits DVD was playing on the store's DVD player and screen. For some reason though, the disc got stuck on repeat or something (maybe it was a defective copy that got returned) and the "Diamonds And Pearls" video got played at least five times in a row. Needless to say, I couldn't get the song out of my head all the way home last night and it's still stuck in my head today.

I think I posted back in March after I first got the Musicology album, how I kept waking up in the mornings with LOTP stuck in head. I didn't really care for the song, but there it was..morning after morning the first thought/song in my mind. Funny how, when I saw Prince and the NPG again a few weeks ago and Prince was over near my section, how I was singing along to all the lyrics. andykeen said: "COME" 9:11 and onwards is the best bit!!!!
Yup, andykeen... funny how that songs just makes....your.....mind.....wander.....around.....the.....place. I constantly find myself hitting rewind just to hear the last few minutes. As to my song of the day: "I called you yesterday/You didn't answer your phone/You're the one who is always lonely/But I'm the one who's always alone" "No, I'm not that mysterious. I'm a pretty open book. People who know my music, I would say know me." - Prince, Today Show 3/15/04

Three days later I still can't get that friggin' song out of my head. I'm doomed to be forever humming "Diamonds And Pearls"!

I gotta say songs, cause it's never just 1:
Girls and Boys-Damn I love this song. Catchy as hell, funky Revolution jam. America-one of my favorites from Around The World In a Day. Very underrated track I think. Actually add the rest of ATWIAD to that too, I've been listening to that a lot lately. Anybody else notice the dropped vocals and jazz horns towards the end of Temptation that sound like a precursor to TRC? Also love the Beatles influence on this album. And like others above-D.M.S.R.. Classic. Prince is definitely one of those rare artists where you really can take your favorites from a variety of albums and make the ultimate mix cd. Not just ok tracks, but that much of a variety of great/amazing tracks to fit whatever mood you're in-funky or looking for mood music. That's rare-for everyone to have such different favorites, and so many tracks that fall under the "knock you on your ass" category. It's incredible how cohesive yet different all his work is. I've thought that for years-just a nice reminder when thinking about all this. Still Prince of course, but the elements and creativity really shine through especially on headphones. Aural orgasm in the truest sense.
