it's amazing that at such a young age he was able play everything on the album and being the youngest artist 2 do so.....simply amazin!!!.....what do ya'll think of the album?....i luv it,even if it didnt get great reviews.....but then again i luv his earlier work anyway!....share your thoughts!!!

Great Album. The lyrics to For You are profound...esp now 25 years later. Favorite song...Just as long as we're together. An amazing debut album. Though I thought that the "instrument" listing was a bit over the top. Some of those were just another brand or type of instrument. It's a bit vain. Though the studio stuff can't be outmatched for it's time.

Here's how I rate the songs on this album (I put it on a par with "Prince"):

For You - Not bad little opener, nice cascading multi-layered vocals, but not a great "song"

In Love - Stevie Wonder to the max in the synths...but it's still Prince all over. Great song!

Soft and Wet - His first stroke of genius.

Crazy You - Beautiful! Great guitar work...smooth like a George Benson tune!

Just As Long As We're Together - Best song on the album! This could almost be a Michael Jackson track from Off the Wall.

Baby - This song is a bit embarrassing...but it's not bad.

My Love Is Forever - Another GREAT track...more Stevie influence.

So Blue - Nice!

I'm Yours - Another kind of embarrassing track, but it's so cheesy it's good. Not the best album closer of all time, though.

I love the album!!! I was late getting it, but now that I have it I can't stop listening to it. That and Prince albums are the ones that are the best and the sound is soo pure, fresh, and new.
