After seeing Rick James on BET last night who can apreciate Prince even more

As I was watching the BET awards last night, I was surprised when after a comercial break the show re-started with a performance(and I use that word losely) by Rick James and Tina Marie. Now I must say Tina Marie sounded ok, but Rick James looked like shit, sang like shit, and was dressed like shit.....I mean it was awful! They tried to pull of the classic "Fire and desire" which is a song that I loved, that is at least until last night.
Watching Rick made me realize all of us as Prince fans should be thankful for his healthy lifestyle and the path that he has chosen for his life. I can't see where there would ever be another comparison made between the two. Prince is the obvious winner!
Another thing is that I saw Andre 3000, or whatever his name is, perform also. I must say I thought his performance(and once again I use that word losely), sucked ass as well. I can't for the life of me figure out why people keep trying to compare him to Prince. That man is not in the same class as or never will be close to being the artist that Prince is.
Who here feels the same way?

The quality of the vagina that has been funnelled Prince's way over the years has kept him youthful.

Rick has had to deal with second rate, less choice vagina, and this has reaked havoc on him.

Why do I have to be thankful or appreciative of Prince's lifestyle because of Ricks behavior.

I'm sorry....Rick is still an r&b legend...regardless of where he is now in his life.

Prince is doing prince....

rick had a friggin stroke a couple years back, what do folks expect 'im to do? to still kick it out like he did way back when? lawd...seems like some people here don't expect folks to ever change or have things happen to them that may cause them to not do things like they used to or whatever else.

I saw Rick and Teena Marie earlier this year, and it was awful. Why does she continue to associate herself with him? She could do better on her own.

Yeah he didn't bring it what can he say "cocaine is a hell of a drug." Also you have to admit he stole the show. After all he is "Rick James Bitch!!!" For those of you who don't know reference the Chapelle show for context. I about died when he said that and that was not planned he interrupted the show for that classic!!!!

Because they would then have to look at their own lives and face the reality of their own changes or the lack there of. wink

As for the Rick James-Teena Marie bit, I thought the performance could have used some more rehearsal time, however watching Rick James try to strip out of that way too tight suit, was entertaining enough to more than make up for it! lol

Oh yeah, though I don't think it was intentional, I think he was trying to get some air, the suit had to be cutting his circulation! lol

[b][i]Is it any wonder that Rick had a stroke, what with all the drugs he took that messed up his body and nervous system.

I think the fact that Rick has dissed Prince so much is why some fans take delight in how bad Rick looks now. And he does look bad.

You say that Rick James is 10 years older than Prince, Well I say this. Lionnel Richie is also about 10 years older than Prince and he looks great. Mr want to use drugs James is paying the price now, both physically and professionally. Tina can still wail out the tunes but Ricks stuff is shot.

As much criticising as I've done about Rick's recent idiotic and hypocritical comments concerning other artists (including, but not limited to Prince), he still has some badass, classic work in his catalog. That's what will live on regardless of his state today. Despite his wack-ass "Party All The Time" crap with Eddie Murphy. I'll take "You and I" and "Bustin Out" over a lot of the tepid junk I hear from newer performers any day. And twice on Sundays.

ditto 2 that. rick james looked and sounded like shit. people are saying andre 3000 is great. no he is just okay. he isn't doing a thing new. PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC has already done what people are saying is so new. we already have an aged funk ambassador. his name is GEORGE CLINTON. i think he wants 2 be the new GEORGE CLINTON.

as far as him imitating PRINCE, everybody is imitating PRINCE because they know they can NEVER BE AS GREAT AS HE! EVER!

I usually enjoy Rick James but that performance made me sad.
I had to turn away
Teena should have sung her new song...alone.
Rick needs to meditate and his stage pressence did make
really happy that Im a Prince fanatic and just a casual Rick James fan
If you will, so will I

What good does it do him??? Is that a serious question?

Anyway, I was talking about some of his old music, not his live gigs.

TurnItUp

I caught it last night too and walked in the middle or Teena and Rick singing. I kinda agree with the one person that said Teena didn't sound ok. I think she was probably just tired and probably didn't have time to rehearse. Rick sounded and looked like a fat pile of shit.

What I was waiting on was when they was presenting the award, I noticed Alicia Keys was in that category and not that I was expecting her to win or nothin' I was still thinking about what Rick said about her on BET.com about spitting her out like a suppository. Like I said said yesterday, he look like the chewed up suppository and I wonder if he heard that line right before Alicia performs when Monique said "she gets respect from Prince".

All I really know is that after seeing Rick and Teena last night I am sooooo glad that I did not buy tickets to see them in concert here in Atlanta. What a waste of money and time that would have been biggrin

Yeah your right.....I shouldn't expect him to "kick it out" like he did way back when. Of course when you think of the "few" hits that he has had as compared to Prince it seems to me that he really never "kicked" that much anyway.....it was more like a crawl lol

That performance last night was one of the funniest ones I've watched in a while. I started laughing right in the middle of the performance without even trying. They should have spent more time rehearsing this. As funny as it was it was pathetic too.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
