I was listenin to Around The World N A Day 4 like the millionth time and b4 2day i never payed much attention 2 Condition...But man I had my speakers up loud and whoa when Condition came on it hit me hard how beautiful it is..this comes in a close second with When 2 R N Love as one of Prince's best love songs...who agrees who doesn't?

The song touched me then in high school...and it touches me now that I'm "grown"...even moreso because I've lived the pain he portrays in some of those lyrics.

It IS a beautiful song. Right up there with When 2...Adore...On the Couch...etc.

Well, one day, after buying ATWIAD, I played track three, "Condition of the Heart" (from the LP of course). She came into the room, not knowing it was Prince, and said, "Wow, what a beautiful song...it's about time you listened to some thing that I can call music. Who is it?".

Well, you know I couldn't fix my mouth fast enough to say that it was Prince. She was surprised and asked me to play it again.

I've loved it since then and I've even translated it into French.

It's a really nice tune.

I was working in a wreka stow back when ATWAID came out. The same thing happened there as well, but with a different result. This lady walked in just as Condition started and asked me to help her find an album (as in Vinyl). I helped her find it and we walked back to the counter together. As I rang her up, she said something like "this is a really beautiful song, is it some of that New Age music?" When I told her who it was, she gave me this half disgusted/half jaw-dropped look, and promptly walked out of the store without her album.

It's never failed to amaze me the reaction you get from people that find out that they like a Prince song.

Condition Of The Heart is the song that made me a fan.

I also saw in a magazine article during the Diamonds and Pearls tour that Tommy Barbarella nominated it as his favourite Prince song.

when this song came out in 85, I was in h9igh school track, listening on the headphones runnin, fast, so cool.

A beautiful song, and another example of how Sussanha inspired his best love songs. I believe this was the second after The Beautiful Ones. Personally I think it soars well above When 2 R in Love

I have a theory about ATWIAD...

There are COTH people - those who bought the album for this song

and those who are into the funkier stuff, like Tamborine.

That's how it seems. And I wonder why...

But I like it all.
