Call me crazy, but everytime I turn on MTV before noon, I see the Musicology video. To be honest, I actually got a little bit tired of it and so did my 15 month old son. It used to be his favorite and now, not so much. I don't believe that the video was a failure.

His performances are to die for...which is why I've taped most of the videos! When Doves Cry was the first towards a video not on a stage (the mirror thing was awesome) but having 6'2" Brown Mark stand WAAAAY in the back gave it away. I believe most of his videos have been performance related. Which is how I want it! Musicology single didn't "fail"...MTV sux and VH1 is not for the kids. VH1 has always done Prince right, actually. And BET...let's just say that he's in their favor again. Musicology is for the True Funk Soldiers... I'm betting Cinammon (sp?) Girl will do well. Lastly, as one of the "extras" told there was no room for us at the video shoot, those pictures definitely captured just how PHOYNE that man is. He did look might fine that day. And now I see why they wanted us to dress up in sophisticated dinner wear: he was doing a take off on Elvis performing in Vegas, back when you dressed up to go to a Vegas show. Thanks for the post. People bitching about the video after only seeing stills are on trip mode. I saw the full video last night and it's fine. The concept of showing different cultures expressing their love through different types of ceremonies was pretty cool actually. Stokely standing in the background hitting that upright vibe thing with a hammer was a little odd lol. But over all it's a good video for the song.
