Prince Boots-Where R They Now?!

OK, OK, it seems from almost every thread, one thing is clear, people got bookoo boots of Prince's stuff. One thing that is never discussed (of course) is where people can get them now cuz its such a secret and cuz of the heat Pput out here thru various sources to shut em down, and peeps dont wanna let known there resource.

But obviously folks can still get then from somewhere!

Question: How many people who visit the org have a Prince Bootleg Collection and Give us the dealio on who took over after Sabotage and Moonraker?

I know ya'll aint gonna answer that second one!

peace!

yea, i have a bunch of them and they werent cheep to buy thats for sure,
i bought them from a store here in the bay area, its kinda on the under i didnt infact know that they were sold in stores like this but the dude who worked at the store saw i always went to that prince section looking for rare stuff.
he told me he had a book if i saw something in the book he would order it for me.
all were boots including videos and stuff like that...kinda cool.

In NYC you can get them all for about $20 a piece, even though many stores were raided. But the best thing really is to download them from music share sites. Can't beat free.

Hey y'all!

Check out these web-pages I made back in '98 on how to get hold of Prince-boot's...

http://home.online.no/~oa...ootleg.htm

It answers questions like WHAT bootleg's are,
WHERE you can find them and HOW it is at a record convention.

Peace Out!

I got teh same thing going as AMAYA. A store in SoCalif gets a variety of concert boots. I hit the joint regularly and cop what I find. Usually $29 for single disc and 59.99 for 2x and i've seen 3X at 89.99. I don't remeber the outfits cuz there are many, but I will have to inquire about their "catalog" .

EBAY has stuff too!

Used to be, I could drive to a certain college town that's close and pick up some great boots. I bought Crucial, LiveSexy, Cookie Jar and Charade there. Record shows in the bay area used to be a good source, but I haven't been to one in years. Ebay was a good source for a while, but that's done with. Online is now the way to go I think. I still remember paying up to 70 bucks for a single disc boot, and although it may seem like a crazy thing to do, I got my money's worth from the sheer enjoyment of the music.

If you're looking for boots, the one thing NOT to do is to scour your local chain franchise music emporium. You won't find a thing.

Now, flip that advice over and run with it. (Sorry to get all pseudo-crypto-styley, but I don't want to implicate anyone, ho ho ho.)

yes, the ones i have gotten were all around that price..
the park cds set of 4 were...i believe around 80.00 each, but they had anywhere from 2-4 cds inside.

my favorite is the millenium cd set.. its really good and reminds me of the concerts i went to.

Does this 'check your local record store' advice only work in the states? I can't say I've ever spotted anything in any record shops here in Glasgow. I used to go to record fairs too, and never spotted anything.

A chain like Goody, WHEREHOUSE ain't gonna have 'em. You gotta look for an independent Mom & Pop CD store that has a good USED/Promo sectioin. They're usually located around colleges (but y'all already knew that).

I live in the UK, and I've nearly always found stuff at record fairs, not always good quality, but you can usually find something if you hunt around.
On visits to Switzerland I've found stuff displayed in their record shops aswell, although thats a bit of a treck to get a bootleg.
Some people are like Slinkies...

They're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Yeah... small record stores usually have boots. I knew one close to my old university. Sold all kinds of sabotage and thunderball shit for ridiculous prices.
I have always tried to avoid buying them. Instead I looked for free traders, friends, prince freaks I knew etc to copy from them. I don't like paying some bootleggers 20 dollars or more for just one disk with lousy soundquality and p doesn't see any of the money. That sucks. I only own one double disc that I actually bought.

peeps interested in boots should try out filesharing sites.

You Americans are seriously getting ripped off !!US$70!!
You can get basically ANY single boot disc for US$30 in London, UK.
In the UK your best best is the music fairs, many well known Prince stalls show up there all over England...
But I say the net is the best - If you are satisfied with MP3 quality the net is your boot-heaven

Oh and if anyone wants to trade, orgnote me !$%^

Followed the advice, went round my local record dealers at the weekend. I found a bootleg! It was cheap, but unfortunately it was also pretty crap ("2 Live 4 Love", live in Rotterdam in May 92) cos it was recorded from the audience. I asked the guy working there if he ever got any others and he said they were few and far between - just what people sold to them which doesn't happen very often these days.

I used to buy boots in the late 80s (such as the Black Album) but soon stopped because of the crap quality! I always hoped Prince would realise what an insatiable market there was and find a way to release this stuff himself (through say a fan club with annual subscription and you would receive tapes of high quality). Well that never happened (maybe he wanted to and WB said no?)

Then NPGMC happened which is kind of the high tec version of what I wanted in the 80s - need more volume though (not sound, quantity)
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

I would really like small club, heard a couple songs off of it and it seems like a really nice boot.
Orgnote me if anyone knows I can get a copy, I don't even need the pretty package I just want the frik'n music.
