To me, there seem to be some pretty improbable Prince fans here who log on and go straight to the General Discussion. I mean, do they even own all of the albums? This is not a diss, merely an observation. If anything, it is an accolade as they seem the LEAST obsessive.

Meeting some of them in person, I think this honour of Orger Most Improbably A Fan Of Prince should go to none other than:

Second in line would probably be Althom, even though I haven't met him and third would probably be MsSmartyPants.

I don't think I have to give any reasons; they're self-evident. It just seems improbable that they would be Prince fans, don't ya think? Again I stress there is no offense intended here.

Just shows to go you that Prince fans are a wide and varied bunch!

hmm, yeah. i understand why people hang in the GD. some of us aren't the hugest Prince experts, we just listen to him and dig his mentality, as it were, and thus find things in common with other fans, and talk away on all kinds of subjects... not just Prince.

I have never posted in the GD area because I feel like sticking to postings about Prince is what allows me to have something in common with others. I guess I'll have to actually click on the GD and find out what's being talked about, but I'm sure I'd have less in common with people there (not that it's a bad thing...)

I see what you're saying about the Gen Dis section - it sometimes seems more like a chat room for shallow self-indulgence and the topics rarely have anything to do with Prince. But that's OK, it's there for a purpose, I suppose. Guess people come to the Org with one common interest, but many drift from that and would rather post about frivolous topics.

Seems to me the Org is comprised of different types of fans... There are some fans who have a more serious recognition and appreciation of his musicianship and artistry - these people propbably listen to his music perhaps with a more analytical ear, and are more interested in how he creates his music and sample as much of it as they can - and since Prince is so prolific - this could take a very long time (as I am learning). Then there are some who just get into "how hot he is," and "how sexy he is on stage" and go to every concert to party and grind along with the hits - which is also fine, it's just a different kind of appreciation and would probably not be classified in the same category as the aforementioned.

But in the end, I think we could all agree that Prince is an amazing talent - one of a kind, really, and that's why we're all here.

So, I nominate the peeps that ONLY go to the GD Forum and post about everything on God's Green earth but Prince... and that would be too many to name!

I'd say EWM. It's kinda surprising at first to see a guy who loves Manson talk about how The Love We Make is a great song. It's cool though..

This is hilarious because I had this same conversation (sort of) with a young bloke at work yesterday. He couldn't believe that I was Prince fan. He didn't think I looked like one (whatever the hell that means)

I told him I have been a huge fan since 1981 when I heard Controversy. I was hooked and have been ever since.

I do indeed own every album (except for NEWS which I only have the download of and cant be bothered buying). I have quite alot of "other stuff" too

Every1 i know thinks I'm very "WEIRD" for being a prince fan, and say the fact i love prince explains a lot!!!! I have always enjoyed prince music but the first album i bought was the symbol album (i was only 12 when it came out) Since then i have bought everything i see Prince related and currently working backwards through the prince catalogue. And such fun it is too.....
