I like how sometimes the voice sounds as if it goes from one ear to the other. That is really cool. I don't think this occurs on Musicology, though.

I remember a time back in the day when I was listening to ATWIAD on my cassette head-phones, and one of the ear-pieces busted. I just kept listening with the one ear working, and everything was fine until Pop Life came on. I don't know if he did the same thing on the CD, but on the cassette, his voice in the left ear is way behind the beat, and the normal voice didn't come through at all on the left side. So for the entire song, it sounded like he was singing 'late'. At the time, I had to stop, rewind and re-play the song as I thought something was wrong with the player. I was kinda pissed at first as Pop Life was my favorite from the album, but it then gave me a new insite into how the songs are recorded, and I really started listening to music a lot closer after that.
After that, I made sure to listen to his albums with head-phones on all the time, but I haven't done it in a looong time. Maybe I'll have to start up again.

Try listening to the whole Lovesexy CD through different "surround sound" modes/channels... you will trip out on all the extra sounds and voices that you don't really hear while listening to it the normal way.

It was so different, I made a cassette recording of it like this, and I listen to it every so often, just to soak in the genius of it.

My husband asked me after I got Musicology, "Why do you always listen to it on the stereo then listen to it over & over on your headset, then over & over on the stereo"? I tried to tell him that it sounds different through your headset. Every time I listen on the headset, I hear something new each time that I did not hear before. It is kind of complex with layers. That is the point when my husband calls me "obsessed" and walks away. The other day I broke out 1999 & put my headset on. My husband was not thrilled, he got to hear the album with only me singing.
I told him the other reason I listen with the headset on is because he gets tired of hearing him on the stereo. Needless to say, after hearing me sing the entire 1999 album, he begged me to put my Prince CD's back in the CD changer. lol
