May 27, 2004 Rolling Stone article: "live performance...will increasingly become the center of Prince's musical universe."

In the April 23 EW interview, the interviewer got him to basically admit that it wouldn't be the last time he plays his hits.

So I wouldn't worry! cool
"I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

This will probably be his last time performing the CLASSICS but, definately NOT the last time he will tour. Most likely, he will probably do smaller tours in the future and more clubs and hot spots...but this isn't the last we will see or hear from him. He has too much to say!...and will self-destruct if he doesn't get it out of him, that's just Prince for ya.

I doubt it will be the last time we here the older stuff. Despite what he has said in interviews !

Last tour? Never heard that. Last time performing classics...That's what he says. I doubt it though...also doubt it will be the last time we hear naughty lyrics.

If this was his last tour, he would have said so.

In 1985 , Prince announced that he would never tour the u.k. because of the 'lack of respect' he was shown ot the brit awards.....he's toured about 8 times since.....I wouldnt read too much into these rumours! wink

Guy like Prince would walk out there with a cane and still whup yo' ass.

I can see Prince performing a show in a wheelchair someday if he had to. Eff being an old man...he's always gonna be performing somewhere for somebody. Its in dude's blood....what can he do?

But don't forget to go to a show. Ain't nuthin like it.

From what I have heard on "The Tonight Show", this is the last time he will perform his old hits. I can't remember the exact words that Jay Leno asked but it's like he didn't believe it and said "Come on, what's the ONE song that you would have to do because it is so loved?" Now these are not Jay's exact words. Prince responded with "Purple Rain".

Prince has been saying things for years and always changes his mind. Right after "Purple Rain", I remember hearing an interview with Wendy on a radio show and she said Prince one day would just disappear off the face of the earth and just produce other artists.

I remember when Prince was retiring from the music business and just going to make ballets and work with movies. That retirement didn't last long...the very next year, business as usual, another album was released.

I remember when Prince was feuding with Warner Bros. and changed his name. He said Prince was dead and he would never perform another one of his hits. I saw the "Jam of the Year" tour in 1997 when his name was still changed and the majority of the songs performed were the "Prince" songs.

This new thing about this is the last time Prince will perform his old hits is just hype to get the old fans to go to the concerts. He knows he could not sell out arenas if he were not performing the old hits so he wants to make us think it's our last chance. If he toured with only his new material, he would have a hard time selling out auditoriums, let alone arenas. Prince is not crazy, he's a VERY smart business man. Look at including the price of the new album in the concert ticket price...that was GENIUS!
