I think we're going for sylables here and not concept.
Sure it'll be a new century...but not millenium and I think that's the point in the song. THe flip of the millenium. I think that the song would probably flop...too close to the original and Prince would come up from the grave and sue the beast that made the song. Christian Zombie Vampires

I'd love it. When I heard "1999" in 1982, I envisioned all the music in the real year 1999 would have the futuristic sound of the song "1999". Boy, the real year 1999 was a real disappointment, music then and still is, stripped down to a weak beat with some "talking" and called hip hop. What's next, acapella? That's what it's going to be if it's stripped down any more!
Like I said I'd love a song called "2099" but for it to be a "minor" success in the year 2004, it would have to be done as a house music song. Then in would only make it in the gay clubs. The only way the general public would ever listen to it is if it were hip hop. Major corporations own and control radio and TV nowadays and they dictate what is played over the airwaves. Hip hop is a cheap form of music to make (no instruments to buy or musicians to pay). That's why we haven't seen a change in music in the last 15 years. It wasn't like that back in the day before these corporations owned everything. Every form of music lived it's life for about 5 years, went out of style, and moved on with something else. Obviously you don't like hip hop. It's ok if you dont like hiphop, but please, dont talk if you don't know the fuck you're saying. No instruments? No musicians? Sure some rappers/hiphop produces dont use them, but the same thing happens in pop, rock, disco... And a LOT of hiphop is made with a real band or is musically great. Ever heard of DJ Quik? The Roots? School's in.

OK let me teach your ass about music. You should be able to learn easy because you sound like you are probably in high school with the same thing happens (no instruments) in pop, rock, or disco. If you are talking about current pop or rock, you are exactly right...but old school pop, rock, and I'm also including funk is nothing but instruments. Now when I say old school I'm not referring to "your" old school which would be the 90s. I'm talking about before you were born in the 70s and while you were being born in the 80s. Yes, the 90s and current pop and rock has been invaded by hip hop so I would not doubt your statement is true on that aspect. You notice I didn't say funk because there is very funk anymore, hip hop killed it. I remember Cameo and the Barkays did albums around 94 to 96 but the radio stations would not play them because they were not hip hop. The only reason a few of them are even playing Prince now is because he is so popular at the moment. And as for disco, I don't know of any disco songs that don't have any instruments. Someone your age probably thinks house music is disco. As for your comment about certain hip hop groups playing instruments, I'm talking about hip hop in general as a whole...there are exceptions to everything in life. You will learn that when you reach puberty. I used to love hip hop back in the day when their only form of an instrument was not a turntable. Listen to "Planet Rock", "Egypt, Egypt", "Electric Kingdom", and "Pack Jam" just to name a few. Compare the tempo of those songs to the tempo of the ones today. It was much faster. It was for the dance floor which is where music should be. That's why yall's little young asses are shooting and killing these days because you can't go skating like we used to because the music's too damn slow! I know what I'm talking about. Call me when you graduate! Andy is a four letter word.
