Musicology, NEW iPods & John Mayer Apple is releasing new iPods and the Newsweek story quotes John Mayer using one of our favorite words when discussing the shuffle feature of the ipod.
Shuffle winds up helping people make connections between different genres of music. "People feel they're walking through musicology," says rock-er John Mayer. These abilities have a predictable effect: peo-ple who use iPods wind up listening to more music, and with more passion. Musicology: let's get it in the dictionary! Musicology is already an actual word/study. It's the study of the history of music. Check dictionary.com.
Johnny's a Prince fan (he sometimes sings a bit of "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" tagged onto the end of "Your Body Is a Wonderland" on some of my bootlegs), but this isn't an example of him showing it. He's a former Berklee student, so I'm sure that's probably where he knows it from. [This message was edited Sat Jul 17 22:54:12 2004 by croweonbranch] | |
