In my freshman year Adore...I had a massive crush on this girl and every time I heard that song I felt like Prince had mind-melded with me and had written down exactly how I felt about this girl. Sadly it didn't last but I still think of that girl when I hear that song.

Nothing from Lovesexy really reminds me of high school but in 1989, my senior year I was all about the Batman soundtrack. I played the motherfreaking treads off that CD, even though now I look back and think it's pretty average, pretty pedestrian stuff. I thought the whole Gemini concept was pretty clever and I was going around telling everybody that Prince was hitting it with Kim Basinger.
All good things they say never last...

Hmmm, I think Controversy, the album, made me into a long-life fan during my teenage years.

It wasn't my intro to Prince's music, but it was the album that really grabbed me at that time and shaped a lot of my ideologies then.

For me it was "If eye was your girlfriend"
I remember I had the album and would just keep putting the needle back on that song time after time.

I remember hearing "Irresistible Bitch" and "Horny Toad" in high school. Purple Rain was released the summer of '84, right after I graduated from high school.

I was jammin' to a lot of old Prince then.

He was the bomb and of course still is.

SassyBritches

well, i was in high school from 90-94...not exactly a prince high period, lol! i was really digging prince though...probably the record that kept me interested in prince. at the time, i was not crazy about diamonds and pearls or batman. so yeah, i guess the album that got the most play was prince and the song that meant the most was the sacrifice of victor.

There were sooo many. HS for me was 82-86.

I guess the standouts were Little Red Corvette, Darling Nikki, and Pop Life

Anna Stesia That, along with the whole Lovesexy CD pretty much saved my life in High School. I know that may sound melodramatic, but hey...High School IS pretty melodramatic.

Especially high school in Nebraska! omfg

My album was "Controversy." Everything on that dern album. Maybe "Sexuality," the most, for the bit about "tourists" and the like. razz

LOVESEXY came out at the end of my junior year, and shaped that entire
summer, and all of my senior year. I made a cassette of eye Wish U Heaven
looped about 10 times. That's how I fell asleep. All my friends knew and
loved Lovesexy, too.

How corny: We listened to all the remixes/b-sides, too. Glam Slam Escape
has the line "15 minutes ain't long enough 2 out yo mind...". When we sat
in Spanish class, with 15 minutes left, Conrad would say, "15 minutes..."
and I'd answer with the rest of the line.

"Don't Kiss the beast" was another one of our phrases.

And "Shockadelica" got a lot of airplay, too.
let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark

Purple Rain LP -- I almost wore a hole into that record, I was mesmerized.

Around The World In A Day -- Ditto

Parade -- Ditto

Housequake -- Got me amped before my football games.

eye No -- thoughts of graduation, starting college, and optimism about my future.

but the most important song?

Adore -- for the last 6 months of my senior year, I listened to it every night before I went to bed, thinking about the girl I was in love with. It's still hard to listen to it today, even tho it is my favorite Prince song.

You know....for me it was never really about one single song. It was just about the entire vibe of the era. That was just simply an amazing time to be a fan. So fresh, so bold, so new, so visionary, so glam, so fun, so fierce.

I remember that cheer at the pep rallies! We were rivals.

We used to respond back with "You ain't nothing but a bore, you're the class of 84!" and yall would respond with "Pimples, acne, and red hives, you're the class of 85!".

I think yall had us beat!

Those were the days!
