AFI 100 greatest songs in film I see that lose your self from 8 mile made the list (actually broke the top 20) did any songs from Purple Rain make it? "WHen DOves cry" "Purple Rain" are much better songs. I wouldnt have a problem if that eminem song didnt land so high on the lame list.

If Eminem's crap made it....then any song from "Purple Rain" should make it.. IMO. I was wondering the same thing the other day when I saw the commercial for it.....I forgot when it's coming on though. Eminem Four strings across the bridge. Ready to carry me over,Over the quavers, drunk in the bars,Out of the realm of the orchestra

I just checked the list for nominees on AFI's website and out of the 400, Prince is on the list once and it's "Let's Go Crazy" from Purple Rain of course. I was a bit surprised cause I surely thought that the song "Purple Rain" would be on the list. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Lose Yourself is brilliant, especially in the context of the film, far moreso than Let's Go Crazy in Purple Rain

Please tell me you're joking i ain't about to throw out disses to eminem, but i really don't see how it is that much more "brilliant" than let's go crazy / beautiful ones / purple rain...especially, as you say, "in the context of the film." and by the goddamned way -- why ain't nobody mentioning how u need another lover / kiss / christopher tracy's parade wasn't up there for UTCM? well, i probably know the reason why...but seriously...if AFI did a list for best songs during the endcredits, then mountains would surely have to crack the top 5...if not the best film-concluding song ever! think it ain't?
