((5) and (6) I most definitely agree with.
(2) and (3) I don't. Alicia's version isn't better than Prince's, but I think she did an ok jobs. Melissa version of Do Me Baby was the first time I heard the song before P's version. I thought she did a good job on it.
(4) It was ah ight
(1) and (7) Never heard them and maybe I should keep it that way.

That is just stupid, I mean what have scriptures got 2 do with a one night stand?

Or descriptions or whatever it was! I actually thought it was inscriptions but that doesnt make n e sense either!

23 discriptions and a one night stand makes even less sense. Cause at least with 23 scriptures, you can assume that maybe reading holy texts makes him horny. Now I'm completely confused.

I always heard it as "23 scriptures in a one nightstand." You know, like in a nightstand by the bed? That's the way I've always heard it and it's one of a few reasons why I will NEVER purchase the DVD.

My choice is Tom Jone's hideous cover of "Kiss," probably one of the few absolutely perfect pop songs that Prince has ever done. Everyone should just leave it alone.

I also found Loleata Holloway's cover of "I Wanna Be Your Lover" quite annoying. "I wanna be the only one you come to"??? Way to excise the one bit that makes the song interesting. It's bad enough when he sanitizes his own lyrics. He doesn't need some howling generic dance diva to do it for him.

Awww come on y'all. Tom Jones' version of Kiss has it's merit. If you like Tom Jones - that voice with swagger and power and full on Testosterone - it's great. I'm not talking about the lame live version from the man-diva show on VH1, I'm talking about the Art Of Noise version. Love it. LOVE IT. (the extended version has the HOOOAAAH from Frankie Goes to Hollywood, which makes it even cooler, again, in MY opinion).

If you want it to sound like Prince's falsetto, then, hell yeah, you'll be let down.

Personally, I think it rocks.

That lame-ass "Do Me baby" by who was it, Joyce Kennedy? Jane Kennedy? Whatever - what a weak ass breakdown.

But as long as we're talking about Prince covers, go listen to my version of "Life Can be So Nice". Yeah, I'm pimping myself.

The music? I was pretty fond of the music because, well it is Art of Noise. But Tom's Voice didn't fit the song.

U know--I"ve been doing some real soul searching. Some real heavy soul searching.

23 positions and a one night stand--the original lyric--doesn't have much merit either.

I generally respect and appreciate other peoples opinions but I'm shocked so many hate Sineads version of Nothing Compares 2 U.

It's one of the best, most touching versions of a Prince song.
And the video is great,too!

Sinead O'Connor's version of Nothing Compares 2 U. In my honest opinion, she ruined that song and it hurts me to hear it. I find it really disappointing when I meet people who've only heard her version and they think SHE wrote it. And when they find out there's a Prince version they think he redid it and that he did a bad job because it doesn't sound like "the original". I hate that, and I hate the way she ruined the song. Sorry to all I've insulted.

Sinead's version IS the original.....

Prince recorded it AFTER.....

Although he did play snippets live.....

I WENT BACK A LISTEN TO ALICIA KEYS VERSION OF THAT SONG AGAIN. THE ORIGINAL HAS MUCH MORE EMOTION IN IT(I KNOW CONSIDERING THE SOURCE). ALICIA'S VERSION TO ME IS TOO "TRACKED" FOR SOMEONE WHO IS A CLASSICALLY TRAINED PIANIST. IT'S SEEMS RUSHED, TWO-DIMENSIONAL AND FLAT. EVEN STEPHANIE MILLS TOOK HER TIME TO GET YOU TO FEEL THE SONG.

MELISSA MORGAN...SHE SANG DO ME BABY WELL...OK I NEVER LIKED MELISSA MORGAN

I didn't even listen to Prince at the time, but Sinead's "Nothing Compares" was horrible. I didn't even know it was his. Later, when I heard Prince /Rosie, he blew my mind for the hundred-thousandth time. and who the heck is Dorothy?...covered "Still Waiting"?

My vote, hands down, goes to Leann Rimes. Her "Purple Rain" is a perfect example of someone who has the ability to sing just picking a song and singing it, with no understanding of what it means, no life lived that allows for an honest interpretation of the lyrics, and basically, no business covering that song. The beauty of "Purple Rain" is that Prince's guitar work is so damned expressive that he is "singing" through his instrument when he's not using his voice. Just see him play it live if you don't agree. Given this, how could Leann possibly connect to it in any believable way?

We can spot a fake, y'all.
