The Black Album Okay, I got this album two weeks ago, and I guess you know you love an album when it's all you've been listening to since you got it.
Deeeaaaayum! What was I missing out on! This chit is fonkay! I loooove it it's so good LeGrind Rocks me Hard in a Funky Place (  ), Cindy C just rules and Bob George...weeeeellll, Bob George speaks for itself really.
I know all y'all will have listened to it and heard it a million times, but to me this album (narrowly) is better than LoveSexy, it's incredibly hard to decide, and maybe it's cause this album is newer, but for me, je le prefer.  | |

I was listening to Superfunkycalifragisexy today. Just love it. Funkier than anything on Lovesexy.

Didn't like it at first...but it does grow on you Cindy C, Bob George, Superfunky ...all very excellent.

I've been listening to this album alot lately. I've owned it a long time and always thought it was ok...i think i was really influenced by the whole 'don't buy the black album' thing so i never really got into it. Now i can appreciate that it is one of his best albums...it is now in my top 5. Superfunky....through headphones just blows me away.

There’s only one problem: It made him think about good and bad, and he got worried about how people would judge him ... So … he withdraw this great album and started to compromise from that day on In my opinion the black album is far superior to LoveSexy and everything released after that | |

Isn't it amazing to think he could throw 2gether a bad-ass funky album like this, then in the space of just weeks shelve it, then get straight into recording the totally different but equally brilliant Lovesexy. Who else has two albums in them (in an entire career!) as totally opposite and brilliant as these two classics?? 'Nuff said. | |

I had the Black Album for like 6 years and it just didn't hit me. Then one day recently... POW. ROCKHARD IN A FUNKY PLACE!
I like that about Prince's stuff. Sometimes a given record doesn't work for me for awhile and that's cool. His catalog rewards patience!! | |

Actually, the Black Album did take a while to grow on me. Bob George was about the only song I loved on first listen. Like I've said before, a funk masterpiece of this black-forest-chocolate-cake depth takes time to seep under the skin. In other words, give it more than a week before you prematurely ejaculate a review. I guarantee, though, that eventually you will be under the spell of the three beautiful wicked witches, Le Grind, Cindy C and Superfunkycalifragisexy. Not to mention their whore of a sister, RockHard in a Funky Place. But not before her pimp slaps yo ass into the middle of next week. I'm sorry, baby. But that's the rules.
