Prince should follow Usher in boosting sales from MTV.com
Usher may not be far from the hot seat for too long, since a re-release of the album, with at least three new songs, is on the horizon, according to producer Jermaine Dupri (see "Usher, Alicia Keys Record Duet"). Prince should do the same with Musicology! add a few bonus tracks or extended versions of the original track OR extra live tracks taken from the concerts..a lot of people would but it all over again for the extra songs Check it out ...Shiny Toy Guns R gonna blowup VERY soon and bring melody back to music..you heard it here 1st! http://www.myspacecomment...theone.mp3

As a matter of fact I am sure he is already getting bored with Musicology and ready to move on to the next thing. You know he has A.D.D when it comes to his music. Also he has pimped this thing pretty hard although if he did put a live song on a new Musicology I would buy it. Peace THE CARDINAL HAS SPOKEN!!!

I bought "Musicology" in the record store because I be damned if I was going to wait till I go to the concert a month and a half later to get my copy.
I noticed it was only about 48 minutes so I expected the CD from the concert to have some extra tracks or extended mixes. I went to concert last week and boy was I mistaken! The tracks are exactly the same as the store bought CD. There are no pictures and it is just in a cardboard envelope. I gave it to a friend. Andy is a four letter word.

I have to disagree with you. If Prince reissued Musicology the only thing he would accomplish is pissing off his hardcore fans. Many people bought the download before the cd was released. Then they bought the cd. And many people also got free copies at concerts. How many releases do we need for one album?
Besides, doesn't it piss you off when you "have" to but the same album twice for a few bonus tracks? Prince isn't under the thumb of a major label. He doesn't have to play by the industry's rules. I think any fan of Prince would vastly prefer a cd of outtakes, live tracks et cetera to a re-release of Musicology.

I see what you mean here, but I'm sure he'll just add the extra tracks to NPGMC as singles.

It could work using said method, the only problem is the material.
I really regard this a CD to promote a tour, and not vice versa. I think he deliberately chose to reduce the material to an absolute minimum, and when 'recording all the time' he's working in the direction that is 'The rainbow children', 'Xpectation', 'N.E.W.S.' and onwards. Artistically, he showed little interest in writing pure pop-music for quite some time, and his latest offering is on that account a hastily put together hit and miss affair. The word Musicology was first sighted when the club opened up for the 2003ever edition, so it's a safe bet that his intention after the 'One nite alone'-tour has been focusing on a commercially viable year in 2004. He basically waited all of 2003 to achieve just that, fine-tuning what became impeccable feeling for timing. Musicology rumouredly consists of quite some tossed-aside old material, with the only commonality being the genre. There is a reason that the (non-)released singles have no proper B-sides. This album is not a document of a certain era, other than the commercial comeback of 2004. Its content is a very kaleidoscopal mix of left-overs. He recently has been recording with Wendy for an album that could be released around the end of the year. There is another two albums said to be ready to hit the street, if ever. For sure he could enrich the experience that is Musicology with extra tracks --- he just won't. I don't think he ever wanted this CD to be more than a means to promote the tour. I'm curious to what he is up to next
