Cinnamon Girl UK Single 28th June

Here's the press release -

It is hard to believe that it's been more than twenty-five years since For You (snip)..

2004 is shaping up to be a monumental year for Prince who opened the 46th Annual Grammy ceremony with a stunning show-stopping duet with Beyonce, and earned the ultimate pop music honour as an inductee into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in March 2004. He's embarked on an historic and extensive World Tour (which kicked off March 29th) and is participating in a number of major events surrounding the 20th anniversary of the release of his classic music film (and watershed album) Purple Rain.

The debut single taken from 'Musicology' is the thought provoking song about war entitled 'Cinnamon Girl' realeasd on 28th June 2004.

on May 19th and it went straight in the UK chart at #3, proving Prince is still top of his league and that Prince power is still very strong,

This is great. I wonder how well it will do in the charts over here.

It would be fantastic to see him back on some of the music shows again. I nearly fell off the sofa with excitement when they played Musicology on CD:UK!

I like the musicology album but i shudder at the fact that this will be the next UK single. I really do feel that it will be panned by critics when it is released. I hate to rain on Princes parade at the moment, i am so glad that he is doing well this year. however, i feel that the track is musically unexciting and that the lyrical content is extremely poor. my vote would have gone for, 'if eye was the man in ur life' or 'call my name' (although i feel this track would be more accepted by US audiences).

i hope that i'm proven wrong, i really do!
You do as I say

ah...Cinnamon Girl...what a pile of cack and just the track we need to make Joe Public sit up and think - "theres that squiggle twat - I thoughthe was meant to be making a come back"

Why not release If I was the man in your life or Mr Man

ICPS would have been an even better choice. I don't think Musicology is a 'singles' album though really.

Really - I dont think people would 'get' that track. I think, with a good Vid, life of the party could go down well and the line sthat poke fun at rumours would be a real smack in the face to teh fools that beleive them.

I mean we all know Prince isnt interested in getting a hit but I refuse to beleive that he would want a flop on his hands...thats just stupid eek

Cinnamon girl is the only track on the album that I skip everytime. Its dated and dull. Absolutely awful choice.

He should release it as a double A-Side with 'Musicology'.
It was a big mistake not to give that track a 'proper' release,
(especially in the UK where the charts are soley counted on actual sales.)

Cinnamon Girl is the perfect Radio 2 song. (Take that however you want!!) I agree, it is the only real choice for a 2nd single from Musicology (OK, I know, it's really the first single, but you know what I mean.. biggrin)

It should shift a few more copies of the album. If I was Prince I would wait until touring Europe before releasing the next song. Probably If I Was TMIYL

R U sure about that? I thought the chart included airplay as well?
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

Actually, Musicology is on the flip side of the promo (both album versions)

The "official" (BBC) chart is on sales only

The independant chart shows are on air play as well

Cinamon Girl is a really poor choice - I assuem teh record comapny makes the choices...what are they thinking???

Prince is singing in that weird off-key falsetto that he does from time to time

Its about 9/11 and the agro around that - sorry but to the Brits that terrible day doesnt signify the same as it does to the USA ...we've been dealing with terrorism and religious hatred for years.

It religious in a crap way

Maybe in the 60's this love thy neighbour thing woudl wash but, like it or not, we are in a place where a good tune sells not right-on sentiment.

WHEEL OUT THE FUNK PRINCEY BOY!!!

He might be cooking something up for Europe... check this:

New Prince Single, "Cinnamon Girl' Coming 2nd August

It is hard to believe that it's been more than twenty-five years since 'For You', Prince's first album, was released. Not only because both the world and its musical landscape have altered so much in that quarter century, but because so many of those changes were anticipated and initiated by this multi-instrumentalist, producer, singer, songwriter, Oscar-winning composer, and multi-Grammy-winning artist.

And those accolades are not likely to stop in 2004, which is already shaping up to be a monumental year for Prince who opened the 46th Annual Grammy ceremony with a stunning show-stopping duet with Beyoncé, and earned the ultimate pop music honor as an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2004. He's embarked on an historic and extensive World Tour (which kicked off March 29) and is participating in a number of major events surrounding the 20th anniversary of the release of his classic music film (and watershed album), 'Purple Rain'.

Prince released his latest album “Musicology” on 19th May and it went straight in the UK chart at #3, proving that Prince is still top of his league and that Prince power is still very strong. The debut single taken from “Musicology” is the thought provoking song about war entitled “Cinnamon Girl” released on the 2nd August, 2004.

I vote for, "What do you want me to do"
It would do well on the charts, especially, the R&B charts mad

I've seen a few articles that start out like that recently, For You wasn't exactly an album that the public remembers, and (forgive if I'm wrong) but it wasn't even released in the UK until 1986.
