Best Opening Concert Sequence?

For me it's the Nude Tour onslaught of The Future, 1999 and Housequake. Stripped down, back to basics and with that funky drum machine beat playing throughout. Prince doesn't draw breath for the first 10 minutes.

Others?

i loved the opening to Act II (my name is prince), with Mayte dressed as prince cavorting in that mechanical thing over the audience before stripping and revealing a pair of boobies.

and everyone in the audience thinking, "prince has boobies now?"

and then the roar when he just ambled on to stage.

one song only, i know, but it kicked ass.

1st - Parade Tour for the way the show started in darkness and then you were completely blinded by the white lights for a couple of seconds when the curtain fell.

2nd - Lovesexy - just for the original entrance with the car (and Erotic City's bass drum thumping)

3rd - SOTT - purely for the guitar work

Indeed a great start. Along with the DAT intro....Makes it complete...But I loved the opening songs of the Parade tour...Starting with Around the world in a day, CT's Parade, New position & I wonder u... The fact that it was my first Prince concert and the whole ambiance has a very big influence on this choice....

I loved Livesexy. The way it opens with Erotic City and that little act with Cat, Shiela and Prince.
Slick! (and sexy)

Actually I first loved it then it dawned on me that he was demonstrating how many songs of his had started to sound similar on stage. That's probably the first tour where he'd over-used sampling (don't even go there with sample-king Tommy B on later tours)

The "1999" tour in 1982. It was pitch black in the arena and then you heard the prerecorded intro to "1999"..."Don't worry, ... etc., followed by an explosion. Then the drums for "Controversy" started and all you could see was a blinding blinking light to the beat surrounded by smoke. It looked like the opening gates to hell. Then, Prince slowing rised on an elevator behind the light but all you could see was his shadow. He rised to a ledge in front of some huge blinds. All you could see was his shadow through the whole song "Controversy" until he slid down the pole and did "Let's Work". Then the spotlight came on.

EXACTLY RIGHT. I SAW PRINCE TWICE ON THAT TOUR. THAT WAS THE BEST 2 ME. THE KID WAS THE SHIT. CONTROVERSY AND 1999 TOURS WERE HIS BEST TOURS.
