I LOST INTEREST AFTER ATWIAD. I SHOULDN'T SAY LOST INTEREST, BUT REDIRECTED MY INTEREST DUE TO THE BIRTH OF MY DAUGHTER IN 1990. I GOT A COUPLE OF HIS CD'S LIKE THE SYMBOL & COME, BUT NEVER REALLY LISTENED TO UNTIL MUSICOLOGY CAME OUT. I BURNED RAVE, NPS, GOLD EXPERIENCE, & EMANCIPATION FROM MY FRIEND JUST YESTERDAY. REGARDLESS ON HOW CRAPPY HIS CD'S ARE I ALWAYS CAN DEPEND ON THAT 2 -3 SONGS
ON ALL HIS CD'S I WILL LIKE FROM THE 90'S TIL MUSICOLOGY. DONT GET ME WRONG THE 90'S AND UP CD'S ARE NOTHING LIKE HIS EARLY WORK, BUT I'LL SURVIVE!! P.S. NEW POWER SOUL SUCKS ASS!!! I'M NOT SHOUTING, JEEZ!

Actually, I'm going through that now.
The last 4 years have not been very interesting to me as far as all things pertaining to Prince. Although Musicology is a good album, it's just the same rehashed stuff he's been doing for the last 4 years. After New Power Soul, there's a definate sound that now permeates through all his albums. I miss the days between 1999 and where each album was unique and different. I hope that in a couple of months , he drops an album unexpectadly on the world that will blow us away. But Rave was the last time I even got my hopes up.

Actually, I've never been a *true* fan - there are only certain songs or albums I like, but generally speaking, there's more music from prince that I don't like than music I do like.
I know he's a musical genius and so, but that genius to me only comes out every now and then

I've had that happen, but it's the exact opposite of your story; releases like New Power Soul and Rave were making me lose intrest, but it was The Rainbow Children (plus hearing stuff like Daisy Chain and Pearls B4 the Swine)that brought me back... it had to be around 1998. NPS came out, Larry became more of an influence, and his song writing went south never to return. It kind of saddens me. :'(

been an fan since '84 and like many others have expressed on this thread, it just never left me. I have followed a variety of artists over the years but Prince was the first one to really blow me away and no other single musician or band has been able to do that time and again like Prince.
