I'm a big For You fan to, it really has become one of my favourite Prince records. co-sign this! "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

When people say they miss the old Prince, the usually mean the Prince from Purple Rain through Lovesexy, but I say the old Prince is from For You to Purple Rain. Who's the "old Prince" to you?
I agree with you totally the "old" Prince is from "For You" to "Purple Rain". I would say from"Dirty Mind" to "Purple Rain" but the first two albums had some jams you can't ignore such as "Soft And Wet", "I Wanna Be Your Lover", "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad", and "Sexy Dancer". "For You" progressed to "Prince". "Prince" dramatically progressed to "Dirty Mind". After that each album kept getting better and better. All of these albums had the synth sound that just kept better and better all the way through "Purple Rain". Each album became more and more futuristic. "Around The World In A Day" was a TOTALLY different retro direction. Prince stayed on this path and never went back. He lost a LOT of fans after that album. When most people over 35 talk about the "old" Prince they are talking about the Minneapolis Sound.....the synth. sound. Andy is a four letter word.

You see, I'm not over 35, but I do believe the "old Prince" went away with Around The World in a Day because it was so far removed from anything previous. The difference is there. You would think those were two different artists, save Sign O' The Times which seemed to resemble some of that "old" sound

I've been playing catch-up ever since: buying the new stuff when it gets released and then buying the old stuff. Some albums I decided to wait on, like this one But 13 years!!!? And why the hell did I dream about a candy store in Germany!!? You dream about Germany alot, don't you?...

Listen to the way he absolutely kills the base and lead guitars. Can anyone remember the movie that used this song? The For You album was killer through and through. I remember when I first heard the title track, I knew right then this was a brother to watch. I am soo in love with "I'm Yours!"
