MUSICOLOGY - WHAT HAPPENED HAPPENED AND COULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED ANY OTHER WAY

What's all this talk about Musicology would have done terrible without concert CDs?

Let's talk in reality and how Musicology is doing great!

What happened happened and couldn't have happened any other way.

I totally agree with you. I love what's happening with the CD. It's so great to see that this CD is selling so well, no matter how it's being sold. I didn't think it would do this well. In a few weeks, it's going to go Platinum. Too good, too good!
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It took me a while to get into it but I finally have begun to like it. He could have did a lot better though. It is a far cry from the "old" Prince before "Purple Rain".

Bring back the synthesizers and get rid of the horns!

I dont know, Im not sure the CD would have done as well without the shows. I mean, face it, after the Rainbow Children, only the hardcore fans were still listening to him. So people wouldn't be inclined to buy the next CD. And well, its not his best work - some of the songs are great, but its not that fabulous. (Well it is fabulous if you place this album next to all the other releases of say, the last decade, but generally speaking it is not fantastic).

When someone like Prince takes us so high, we can't settle for average anymore! We settle for average from other artists, but Prince, we want him to take us higher all the time.

Why is Musicology doing so well..hhhmmmmm? Answer Prince has made all the right moves, think about it....The Grammies & the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame performances put in in the forefront of folks minds, it reminded people how good Prince really is, that he is a real musician. Musicology may not be his best album, but it's not his worst plus it's a fun funky album. The concert cd only counted for 25% of album sales. When u think about it does an album have 2 be an artist best to go to #1? Now if we can get those videos out on time from the purple camp I for one would be a lil mo happy. headbang
Don't u want to come , 3121. It's gonna be so much fun, 3121. That's where the party be, 3121. Y'all can come if u want to, but u can never leave!

I know, I have been saying that since 1985. I started listening to Prince in sixth grade and the synthesizers dominated all the way till I graduated high school in 1985. Every year each album kept getting better and better. "Purple Rain" came out in July before my senior year so you know my senior year was a blast. Then I graduated and "Around The World In A Day" came out. The old style of Prince was gone and NEVER returned. I still continued to buy every album after that on the day of it's release, I guess hoping one day he would come back. I listened to them over and over. They are great albums but there is nothing like that sound he had before "Purple Rain". The majority of my friends that loved him back in the day stopped buying his records after "Purple Rain". They bought the 45 of "Kiss", when we heard that we all said "OK, his gone on his weird trip and now he's come back...until the album came out.

Over the years I've learn to love those albums and appreciate the different styles of music he has opened me up to. But when I get in a mood to REALLY jam...I always go back to the "old" Prince.
