What about(and I hope that I am spelling this correctly) Terrance Trent D'Arby. Does anyone remember him. I think he was trying to dance like Prince and everything! Although it was a very poor imitation. "Love God"

Actually, TT D"Arby's last two c.d's are really very good. He's a much better writer then the like's of Lenny. He also play's most of the track's as well and I love his raspy voice.

In many ways they are the same kind of artist.. I'm a huge Prince fan myself, but ins't there any comparisation with prince and James Brown..(and a lot of other ones like Jimi Hednrix) It i just a useless discussion... It is nothing but logical someone is inspired by anyone else.... Lenny does not copy Prince..... He copies John Lennon more, but what the hell, people like it. If it really is a sick ripp off, it would not sell. Lenny fucking blows. I remember I was watching Mad TV one nite, and Phil Lamaar was doing a skit where he played Lenny doing MTV Unplugged. He was singing songs that sounded just like Dr. Suess rhymes (I wish that I could fly/Into the sky/So very high/Just like a dragonfly. lmao), and the sista on the show called him on it. That was the entire skit. Different songs, Suess nursery rhymes. Laughing my ass off, I remembered "damn, Lenny's songwriting is kinda simplistic." He doesn't have an original bone in his body, and he's a straight rip-off....not a derivative, of damn near everything 60ish. There's a fine line between inspiration and plagarizing. I mean, watching him play is even uninspired. he trys to come off as a guitar god, but the man just does not have it. Take away the looks and the 60's hooks, and you have nothing. NOTHING. I'm still in awe of the fact that Prince latched on to him. I tried to see a spark for this reason only. But, in the end, my ears got the best of me, and decided that Lenny is damn near unlistenable, and the stuff that is listenable, you've heard before. I would never compare him to Prince, as the comparison, in terms of talent and ability, is ludicrous. Straight up. AMEN!!

AMEN!! i don't even want to admit it, but i agree too. i tried very hard to tap into Lenny's originality, but it just wasn't happening.
