Has a fellow male rock star ever tried harder to look like Prince than this?

Caught this pic on a Lenny lyrics site.

I haven't seen Lenny look so effeminate and Prince-like before.

Have you got any pics of stars who have tried to look this Princely?

Re: cover of Kravitz's "Baptism".
The first time I saw this photo ("Baptism") the cover of "Lovesexy" immediately came to mind (has this happened for anyone else?). Shortly thereafter, when I heard about how Lenny changed course mid-way through the recording of his latest album in order to capture the spiritually inspired "music that just had to come out", I thought to myself "haven't we heard this one before?" Yep. Prince records "The Black Album" stops short, gets an enlightened inspiration to produce a "positive" record and voila: Lovesexy! All naked, refreshed and renewed for the whole world to see (and hear)!
It's not difficult to imagine this process of development is not unique to Prince. Unfortunately, Lenny just seems so much like him, it's difficult not to make the comparison. May "Baptism" do well for Mr. Lenny.

Well I don't see it that much in this photo of Lenny, but in answer to your question, Hell Yes I have seen someone try harder. Think half of all the R&B stars of the 80's I will name a few; O Brien (that is an obsucre reference and the only reason I remember that is because they have his album cover hanging in the bathroom of a music store I go to.) Georgia, Jermaine Jackson once pratically raided Prince's closet for a Grammy awards show. Let me see Terrence Trent D'Arby in the 'Sign Your Name' video and practically every photo or video he has done since. Madonna on the Blond Ambition tour. I think she raided Prince's 1999 tour concept and show in some spots!
That seems to be all I can think of for now. Yeah I agree with you there are some serious Prince biters out there!
Peace

Lenny Kravitz
Born on May 25, 1964, in Manhattan to actress Roxie Roker and TV producer Sy Kravitz, rock and soul singer and multi-instrumentalist Lenny Kravitz grew up in Los Angeles and began performing in high school as Romeo Blue. He moved back to New York, where he scrapped his Prince-inspired Romeo image in favor of an early ’70s retro look and sound. Kravitz burst onto the charts with his 1989 debut, Let Love Rule, led by the huge radio and MTV success of the title track.

Look at the pictures in the CD jacket of Lenny's "Circus". He has a black and white picture that's exactly the same as the album/CD inlay of "1999".

lenny's cool but no one

can do prince as well as

prince is often imitated

but never duplicated

Ow come on, Lenny released 7 albums of which 4 are really original stuff..... Why all thsi bullshit comparing Lenny with Prince... In many ways they are the same kind of artist.. I'm a huge Prince fan myself, but ins't there any comparisation with prince and James Brown..(and a lot of other ones like Jimi Hednrix) It i just a useless discussion... It is nothing but logical someone is inspired by anyone else.... Lenny does not copy Prince..... He copies John Lennon more, but what the hell, people like it.
If it really is a sick ripp off, it would not sell.

Lenny fucking blows. I remember I was watching Mad TV one nite, and Phil Lamaar was doing a skit where he played Lenny doing MTV Unplugged. He was singing songs that sounded just like Dr. Suess rhymes (I wish that I could fly/Into the sky/So very high/Just like a dragonfly. lmao), and the sista on the show called him on it. That was the entire skit. Different songs, Suess nursery rhymes. Laughing my ass off, I remembered "damn, Lenny's songwriting is kinda simplistic." He doesn't have an original bone in his body, and he's a straight rip-off....not a derivative, of damn near everything 60ish. There's a fine line between inspiration and plagarizing. I mean, watching him play is even uninspired. he trys to come off as a guitar god, but the man just does not have it. Take away the looks and the 60's hooks, and you have nothing. NOTHING. I'm still in awe of the fact that Prince latched on to him. I tried to see a spark for this reason only. But, in the end, my ears got the best of me, and decided that Lenny is damn near unlistenable, and the stuff that is listenable, you've heard before.
I would never compare him to Prince, as the comparison, in terms of talent and ability, is ludicrous. Straight up.
