No money = no case. What happened with Tony and Levi? Was there a law suit? Over what? U know, the worst part of this whole thing for Prince...is that he is starting to convince the general public that he is a changed man as a result of his new religion, etc...no cursing, no sex, family shows, respecting kids, granting interviews, etc. Now this? How does this fit with the "new image?" whatever...just keep the music coming!

Stop this nonsense and give the kid his camera back. APPOLONIA ( Madartista) wouldn't approve. "A united state of mind will never be divided

Where does the 50,000 number come from?
The kid should sue Prince for the cost of a new digital camera. $50,000 seems a bit expensive though Prince, buy the kid a new camera, and apologise for your heavy-handed staff.

don't believe the hype. by acts of ommission, the media reports skewed information that leads the reader to misinterpretation and false conclusion. the suits should be a matter of public record. hopefully someone in the Minneapolis area can go to the court clerk's office where they were filed and reproduce them here on this site

okay, i'm decided. Immaturity rules.
As soon as prince comes to the UK and steps off the plane i'm gonna stand there with 5 cameras taking pictures like a maniac. shouting, "prince! set your bodyguard on me, prince!" and then run away, of course.

No money = no case. What happened with Tony and Levi? Was there a law suit? Over what? In the mid-90s,Tony M. and Levi Seacer Jr. sued Prince, claiming that they were never paid royalties for song that they co-wrote with him ("Sexy MF","My Name Is Prince",etc).

(N.B. this is in regard to a case in the UK) Earlier this year Naomi Campbell sued a newspaper for taking her photo, and won. Here are some excerpts from an article published about the ruling (Source:broadcastnow.co.uk):-
"News broadcasters could be sued for inadvertently filming members of the public following model Naomi Campbell’s privacy victory against the Daily Mirror yesterday, legal experts have warned.
Law Lords yesterday ruled the Mirror had invaded Campbell’s privacy by photographing her leaving a Narcotics Anonymous meeting in 2001. The landmark case saw the House of Lords, the highest court in the land, ruling that the Mirror was not permitted to take a picture of Campbell going about her private business, even though it was taken in a public place. " Although this ruling only applies to published photographs, it could only be a short while before a court decides that it is an invasion of privacy to take someone's picture without their consent.

Seems like calhoun square's observation is right on the button here , Prince is countersuing because it was alleged HE INSTRUCTED HIS BODYGUARD TO ASSAULT SOMEONE , hes not countersuing to be a big superstar bully , hes defending his reputation as far as I see it.
Sure the initial incident wasnt pretty or great PR for Prince but if the students now claiming Prince deliberately got him beat up I'm right with Prince here in defending his name. Check out Chocadelica , updated with Lotusflow3r and MPLSound album lyrics April 2nd 2009 :

" Although this ruling only applies to published photographs, it could only be a short while before a court decides that it is an invasion of privacy to take someone's picture without their consent. yep, but broadcastnow.co.uk is being a teeny bit misleading with that very general statement. it was pretty much accepted by all parties that if the subject of the photos was a "private" (i.e. non-public) person, or a public person who had not told the lies that Campbell had, the photos would in any event have been an invasion of her privacy. so it came down to public interest vs. a right of privacy. And the latter won. the point is, there is already a right enshrined in the Human Rights Act as regards privacy (from Article 8 of the ECHR), and there are other laws as well which deal with similar subject matter, such as the Protection from Harrassment Act. what this decision really did was to emphasise the clear requirement to justify any disclosure of private photographic information, and what made something 'private'. prince walking off an aeroplane in the UK ain't nothing private, but attending narcotics anonymous apparently is. the case sucked, as far as i'm concerned. allowed to publish a story rejecting Ms Campbell's lies about not attending narcotics anonymous, but you can't publish a photo of it. okay, i'm done boring everyone to sleep now. ta ta. but if Prince did tell his bodyguard to take the camera, doesn't he have some responsibility? Whatever the case, I don't see how this boils down to Prince defending his name. It would have been best defended by not stealing the camera! http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista
