I don't give a shit how old or how young the person was. If Prince didn't want his picture taken he didn't. Just because someone is celeb doesn't mean they don't have a right to their privacy and everybody is entitled to every inch of their life.

Prince I'm glad you are countersuing since this kid is probably trying to be funny (I doubt he was assaulted) and if that makes you an asshole, then you be an asshole all they way. Do you have to do.

I feel that celebrities need some time off from the cameras. It must be quite annoying, if not irritating to have people follow your every move. The general public seems to have a hard time empathizing with them. Having read the article about Mr. Fitzgerald, I think that Mr. Prince R. Nelson should go ahead with the countersuit.

Yeah, but when the spoils of celebrity fall to the side of hot women, fancy cars and goodie bags from Versace, I'm sure Prince has had no problem whatsoever classifying himself as a "public figure".

I'm sorry, there's just absolutely no way I can get with Prince on this. Even if I *wanted* to, just for the sake of being all fammie and stuff, I just can't justify it. Hell, I'm a PRIVATE citizen, and I'd really freakin' LOVE it if people wouldn't stop me on the street to sign their petitions or try their energy bars or whatever the hell it is they're interrupting me for. I think it's violating of my time, physical space, headspace and privacy. But ya know what? That's life in the city. Ya DEAL or you find an alternative environment that's more appropriate to your needs.

Boyfriend wants his privacy? Then quit shakin' it on the Grammys with Beyonce, shit.

Well said, madartista.

Prince was in a public airport, therefore, he has no privacy whilst there. That's all there is to it.

He acted like a typical spoilt celebrity brat.

Is he going to sue the airport for all the times he appeared on CCTV during the time he was there?

Prince may make fantastic music, but he acts like a total fuckwit in situations like this. I'd love to see this kid win his case and make a total fool of Prince and his people.

Now, I'm going to go over to the NPGMC just to see how the Stepford Fam are reacting to this story. Should be a fun read.

It might be that I'm un-observant, but I can't find any reference to this story at all over at NPGMC Towers.

Has any reference to it been obliterated?

And if not, can you point me in the direction of it?

hmm if this case is filed in hennepin county district court why the complaint and answer are a matter of public record now. it would be way beneath me and definitely crossing a 'stalking' line i haven't crossed before to go read the file. .. but i'd love to see the complaint and answer, just to see what people are going on about. should i go on my lunchbreak and have a peek?

naaw. i don't need to. the situation speaks for itself. prince is a public figure who had no reasonable expectation of privacy in a public place and therefore his bodyguard was wrong to interfere with the kid and take his camera.

i'm not saying i agree with current law on privacy rights - i think we all need to watch our backs on this one especially in light of the fact that most of (for example) downtown minneapolis is being monitored 24/7, but i don't think prince should be handling this issue in such a fashion. imo he should have dealt with it the situation apologetically from the start... just my 2c

i bet they'll settle, after calling each other's bluffs.

Watch out on the picket line though, 'cause I heard that the misspellers of the "2 p, 1 l" type are gonna mix in with ya and try to start some confusion....you can spot 'em because they don't know how to spell "Hundilasiliah."

Well, it's quite interesting because I just posted there on a thread which was pointing out a mis-quote of Prince's that appeared somewhere in the press (they didn't give a source). It was total fluff that should have been an irrelevance, but it made me realise that if the airport thing was false, then they would have definitely made a point of telling us all.

So, it's clearly true. But they still won't let any of us discuss it.

Surely by now they've realised that the Stepford Fam will be endlessly supportive no matter what, and their comments will dominate any discussion about the incident?

yeah, but the story in and of itself shows prince in less than a savory light, even if you're on his "side". nobody likes to be painted as litigious, it's just bad PR. now, when they figure out some way to make this look like some kind of noble "cause", i'm sure we'll get some kind of delightful prince-bonic chocked missive in which throngs of the faithful will be inspired to charge at windmills till the cows come home...

UMM, why is everyone ignoring this part? hmm

MINNEAPOLIS - Prince is denying allegations that he instructed his bodyguard to assault a college student who took the musician's photo at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

If I were being accused of INSTRUCTING someone to assault someone else, I'd wanna get the shit straight too...

that's why it'd interesting to see how the complaint names prince. does it name the bodyguard, prince and NPG Records? jointly and severally? just the bodyguard and prince?
but at any rate the bodyguard was an agent for prince at the time of the incident, employed by prince and acting in the course of his job. which means, i think (i'm not qualified to give legal advice) that prince can't deny liability for the bodyguard's actions.

Okay, as a fan, I've given Prince a lot of slack over the years, but this is too much. Prince, you're being a rich rock-star asshole by doing this.

And why does this thread have a thumbs up? Surely the poster doesn't agree with Prince's actions?

OKAY - ABOUT THE THUMBS-UP ICON:

that icon automatically shows up on any thread that gets selected for the news section on the front page of this site. check out any forum, and you'll see that certain threads have thumbs-up and "featured thread" markings. that means they're either in the news section now, or they have been in the news section in the past. it has no bearing of what we personally think of the story...it's just the icon that was chosen to distinguish the thread as "featured".
