Week 8---32,000 More sold Prince drops a bit on the retail charts but sales on decrease 16% in week number 8. The final talley according to HITS Daily Double is 32,786 retail, bringing the retail total up to about 545,000. Don't know how many shows he did this week but if he did two than he will be somewhere from 8-10 on Billboard. If he did 3 shows, he should be at about Number 6.
I was hoping for a Top 20 or even Top 25 finish in retail but with only about 5,000 separating 20 from 30 it doesn't really matter. Jay Z sold 15 more copies than P so he was that close to being Number 29. I like that the album is still consistently selling...I just wish I felt like it was being pushed a little more. I have heard "Call My Name" once on the Urban AC station in my hometown but it's alledgedly Number 4 on that station so maybe I am not listening enough. Urban radio isn't giving any love and Pop has decided to pass altogether. Can anyone tell me what the hell the difference is between Usher's Burn and Call My Name other than that the latter kicks the former's ass. They are both slow quiet storm R and B numbers but Usher gets all the play and Prince gets nothing. Still Columbia is taking a looooonnnnnggggg time getting the video out and that alone could get the song more play/sell 10-20,000 more copies a week. Still, I have to give props that the album is still a Top 30 seller after two months on the charts. Keep it up and release the video!!! All good things they say never last... | |

I think the only difference between the two songs is that one is from Usher who is super hot right now. I like you have heard the song alot on Urban radio. I live in the south and pass through Atlanta alot I am surprised at how much they play the song in Atlanta for two reasons one Atlanta radio completely sucks and two I can't remember the last time I have heard a new Prince song on the radio in the south. I want to know if anyone has the number or e-mail to Sony. We need to be bugging them about the single. We need this song out NOW. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |
