I do have a conscious, that's the reason why I think twice before buying any official Prince CD or ticket as I don't want to support a cult like the JWs. BTW, when I read the title to the thread I first thought it was about that subject..... How is buying a Prince CD/ticket supporting the JWs? Seriously, I'm interested in what you're thinking.

I am sure that Prince supports them financially (I think every member of any religion does that btw, just some religious groups take more money from their members than others), so the more money he earns, the more he will give to them and thus the more money they have to spread their belief. I know that the money he earns from me is not that much, but still I do feel guilty as I do something that I feel I should not do. So I try to avoid it. Besides that the more power an artist has (and when many people buy his records or go to his concerts the artist has more power) the more possibilities he has to preach his religion on TV or in interviews in mags etc. and the more likely it is that people listen to him. With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

There was a time when I thought Prince wanted to release alot of this stuff, but was just being held back by WB. He's been "free" for nearly 10 years now, and only a small fraction of it has ever surfaced.
At this point, I really don't care if they come out. My prince fascination has waned.

hell no. and you won't feel guilty either when/if prince ever releases this stuff officially... but with his new stance on not swearing, you can pretty much count on a lot of stuff never being released officially... it doesn't matter to prince... he's still "number 1 at the bank."

Nope. Actually I think a lot leaked out by the man himself....

If you can get 'em, play the hell out of 'em! If only we could get them in Florida, damn right I would burn a hole in that mutha.

Hell no I haven't felt guilty. I have often wondered if Prince hasn't put the bootleg out there himself to create controversy. Some of the quality of the bootleg concerts is too good. Especially the video from the early 80s. How does someone sneak a big ass camcorder from 1980 into a concert that sounds like it's been hooked to the soundboard. Maybe Prince had it recorded for private use but I have wondered if he has put some of this stuff out there on purpose.
And "The Black Album", look how much it sold for while it was bootleg and the controversy it stirred. Prince has always been a controversial artist, it makes you wonder. Andy is a four letter word.

what about downloading albums like Musicology for free from the net?
Would you feel guilty about that? I don't.

I do. I often listen to them with a loaded gun pointed at my head. If I wasn't such a chicken shit I'd pull the trigger.

I can't say that I feel guilty...
as a matter of fact, when you're a Prince fan who has purchased all of the commercial and web-offered releases, you're basically "done." I only purchased one boot in my life...years ago. Now that I've met fellow fans on various message boards, I've started trading. It has done two things: 1. It has opened up a whole new level of Prince fan-dom for me...so much more to hear and appreciate. 2. I have met so many generous people who have been willing to share! I had nothing to share with them...they got me started. I've made some friends that way and look forward to returning the favor. I love trading these things! Keith/Kacey
