which cd should I buy

Okay, I have been a prince fan for years, but nverreally bought the albums, i would just mostly catch his stuff on the radio or something.
Anyway
Since I have seen him in condert twice this year, I started thinking that I need to expand my collections. I have Purple Rain, Rave un2 the joy fantasik and the hits collection.
So my question is what are the next two cds i should buy of his. (i'm poor wink wink )
What cd's should every prince fan have when expanding the collection
Ina wink
I don't have time to listen to new music, I've got too much old Prince to discover. Classic example : I was at club Nokia at the midnight show and didn't know "In a large room with no lights" . . . my bad Prince

Buy, "For You", because it's his first album AND Best Buy has them for sale for 11.99!

Very good start. Add to that Around The World In A Day.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

You are going to get a heck of a lot of different suggestions! Prince fans disagree, wildly, about what his "best" albums are.

If you can find a used copy of Emancipation I'd definitely recommend buying it.

Dirty Mind is very short (30 minutes), but great. Which hits collection do you have? Hits 1 and 2 or the Very Best Of? Half of Dirty Mind is on the Hits 1 and 2 but none of it is on the Very Best Of.

1999 is a great album.

Of course Sign O The Times is great. But it might be a little expensive.

I think the Gold Experience is his best '90s album.

Maybe it would be better to tell you which albums to avoid?

I think New Power Soul is generally considered his low point.

Avoid Come. It's not a bad album but you may like it better after hearing the rest.

I don't think there is much to recommend Diamonds And Pearls except for the singles, most of which you already have.

You should try used shops. Hopefully that way you will get the most bang for your buck.

Good luck and happy hunting.

If u end up like us u begin with 1 or 2 Prince cd's, then one day it's 10, then one day it's 60... + the boots & maxis & mp3...

Buy whichever u wish, there's something worth in each of'em...

Peace.

If you're having a hard time deciding:

Check out circuitcity.com and do a search for Prince-they have a good music preview station (30 second clips) but at least this way you get a better idea of how an album sounds. Whichever you like the most-get it first, and so on. Don't order it from there...I've had good luck with overstock.com.

Overstock.com has New Power Soul for a $1.00 (new, and for a dollar not too bad given the reputation this album can get), Emancipation for $10.99 (unedited, all 3 cds, new).

I bought it used back in the day for $25.99, same with Crystal Ball (they don't have that..but you can get lucky sometimes at used record stores and ebay (which you should be VERY skeptical of)-only get the 4 cd set and higher, some try to sell you just 3-gotta have The Truth too)-but it's worth a look.

Many of the older albums (including the first 5) are on Overstock.com for $9.79 (new), Come was on there for $7.79 (new) I think-but definitely check out the older albums first, it'll make you appreciate/define your tastes of the later material a little better. No Prince fan has the exact same taste as another-one of the beauties of it all.

Again, check out circuitcity.com to get an idea-you can't go wrong if it's what you love. Enjoy and good luck building your collection!
