The War? Like it or hate it? What do y'all think of "The War". Am I crazy or is it a tad too long?

HATE IT ! Bush should have never started this war in the first place. It has been long because we went over their based on lies, without a plan or a clue. Now the military and the civilians pay the price while Bush walks around with his big stupid grin! We have got to get this war monger out of office before we enter another useless war.

He makes u wait just long enough for that solo. Then patience is rewarded. You'll never know a girl called Nikki and you'll never find Erotic City

Dig it a lot. Unfortunately since my old computer is out of commission I can't listen to it anymore. I don't think it's too long at all, since it holds my attention. Love the geetar solo. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

I guess most of y'all like it. Maybe I got a short attention span but it seems a little on the long side. I guess it's definitely different, but sometimes I find it hard to sit through all 26 minutes.

It's one of his Masterpieces. He tipped the scales with that one. Hard to play for casual fans I think.
The imagry of that song is very haunting and very memorable. The song shifts and changes...the guitar It was one of the first songs that was a return to form...It's got purple dripping off of it. It's also one of those where I was throughout the entire thing. One of his very best. Something that would be included in a box set or an anthology or something like that. Never heard it. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Freaking love it. It's a little long, but never really gets boring to me. Just a very intense groove, with that kind of paranoid, comic George Clinton thing to move it along. To me, when people talk about Rainbow Children being so experimental, I'm wondering if they've heard this track. It makes RC sound like a camp singalong.

I think that we like it is because we can endure him..and hearing a relaly long song from him is not a chore. We already have Computer Blue, Crystall Ball, All my Dreams and some crazy assed long remixes that go into the 10 min range. I think it'll be one of those that will get discovered by the masses either after P's death or in some sort of retrospective in depth look at his music. I mean unlees you are a fan, you have no idea that this recording exists or have a slight inkling that it's out there. Christian Zombie Vampires

It is a great track but I agree with superspaceboy that it's only something hardcore fans would like. It's hardly Prince at his most accessible. if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

I thought it was great.. it can surely be edited to around 10 minutes or so..

Non prince fans around me actually like it better than most of his "accessible" work.

Great song, interesting. Really like how he mentions what happened to Mr. James Byrd---
it illustrates how people in this country do not value the life of another, esp a Black man. "u tie me a truck and then u drag.."

The part i heard online a while back sounded mostly like a long jam.
Is that it, or does it have changes? Check this song out at:

Definitely love it! I've been really upset at the first listen, lyrics are so intense. Moreover it puts Prince as a visionnary of our time. Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity

The War is awesome. I'm glad it's half an hour long - any shorter would have been a disgrace. I downloaded it off of WinMX a few years ago... anyone who hasn't heard it and refuses to buy it off NPGMC, try searching a P2P program... I mean, like, where is the sun?

Yes, it could be edited...but why? "Let it Be, Let it Be.." Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.
