Final Sales Numbers...This CD Has Legs

In Week 7, Musicology comes in at number 17 with 39,040 in sales. The album is up four spots and only had a 3% drop-off. That means this album has some serious legs. It is selling almost 40,000 retail on a consistent basis and that is a great sign. The fact that it is actually up four spots is amazing because this has traditionally been the point where a Prince album starts to plummet rapidly down the charts. On Billboard charts the news wil be even better because they will add 5 shows at about 12,000 each. That's 100,000 with the new Prince rule which will chart the album at Number 4.

Now where is the damn video for Call My Name...don't give up now Columbia, you have got a hit on your hands that could be even bigger.

Amen to that. The video is needed most definetly. The cool thing is that this album is really selling. This is so beautiful.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Uh, yes they did.

That figure is before concert add ons.

Does it matter?

If the cheesecake tastes good, does it matter if it comes with fancy packaging?

Or...you hope the cheesecake doesn't oversell, so there is more for you, and they don't change the receipe to save money in the mass market! biggrin

I don't want to see P in Arenas. I was begining to like the more intimate venues....I don't want the hits, I want to hear the new and rare.....selfish I know

ha ha I kinda know what you mean although being really selfish I want both, EVERYTHING in fact. Perhaps Prince back in 93 wasn't so "mad" after all. Imagine for a moment...

Prince albums released each year by Warner Bros aimed at the pop market (hits etc) with Arena tours

prince albums each year released by NPG Records aimed wherever he damned pleases with theatre shows

Couldn't happen I know (plus he would have been one hell of a busy boy) lol
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

Here's the Billboard blurb:

Prince's strategy of including a copy of his latest album, "Musicology," with each ticket sold to shows on his ongoing North American tour continues to pay chart dividends. His NPG/Columbia set is the only title in the top 10 to see a sales increase this week as the album shoots 8-4 on The Billboard 200 on a 35% gain to 96,000 copies following four major Southern California dates.

I could have sworn that five shows were to included in this weeks tally but whatever, it's all good!
