Prince and Bob Dylan

Is it true that Prince blew off Bob Dylan after a hometown show during one of the early tours? If that's true I have to say that wasn't cool at all. Oh knows, maybe that Karma was returned when he got booed off the stage opening for the Stones.

Yeah it was mentioned in the DMSR book.

It's not that Prince blew him off. He just couldn't understand a damn thing Bob was saying on the phone.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

It says in the DMSR book that he snubbed him somewhere backstage in some award show or something.

Sam's (9th March, 1981) This was the 1st date of a secondary, 18-date club tour promoting the Dirty Mind album. Minnesota's other son Bob Dylan attended this show, and afterwards approached Prince's management asking 2 meet him. Prince wasn't interested and refused.

Sam's, later to become First Avenue. Prince has always been such a dick.

Bob did his fair share of snubbing back in the day, as well. I heard a story that, at an LA party, Led Zeppelin's manager, Peter Grant, went up to Dylan to introduce himself. Peter said, "I'm Peter Grant, manager of Led Zeppelin." Bob responded, "I don't come to you with my problems, do I?" and walked away.

Bob's always had an air of bemused detatchment to him, though (Pete Townshend once described disappointment in his first meeting with him because he seemed "unaware"). Prince just comes off as a jerk. They're both excellent artists, though... Two excellent artists with almost completely opposite approaches to music.
