In what years of Prince's career was his fashion at his worst??

I am saying the Dirty Mind/Contoversy years and Graffiti Bridge era. Just simply horrible.

Lovesexy, D&P with the MTV ass out suit, the Rave2 and twisted hair look , IMHO!!!

Dirty Mind was one of the coolest!

DEFINITELY the Symbol/Diamonds and Pearls era!

Oh pleeze - without question it's the shit he's most famous for, the 1999/PR years. That fucking glittery purple coat, the hair higher than MJ's nose points in the air, the lace He dressed so much better come UTCM & on... I can't count the earliest years (For You & Prince), he was finding himself

that bullshit around rave/NPS where he was wearing NPG sports jerseys with fedoras, and everything he wore was some kind of NPG logo gear. i could hang with seeing him in some pretty out-there, phyllis-diller-lookin shit during the early to mid '90s, but that logo gear and fedora/jersey crap just did me in.

I'm so glad u asked! I was just looking at the Rave... CD cover and all I could do is shake my head and say "WHAT IN THE HELL DOES HE HAVE ON!!!"

Also, before UTCM (and I could be wrong on this) but it SEEMS like he was taking things & throwing them together. The clothes didn't seem like they were HIS (then again, where would he have found shit like that?).

But for UTCM & beyond his clothes were really made for him & had more of a uniqueness that suited him. I hate the PR years - trashy!

Around the time of Graffiti Bridge and the Nude tour definitely (any time period when he had long hair actually, I like him best with short hair)

His two worst periods were D&P/Symbol era and around 97-99 as Anxiety points out when he wore all that trashy npg shit.

For me, all the worst outfits seemed to be centered around "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" period: That red outfit he wore in the video was hideous but the most horrific thing he ever wore was that yellow/baby blue outfit when performing that song on the World Music Awards.

Lest we forget the One Night Alone "Afraid to take a Bullet" Cross your heart shield.

I think his outfit on the 1991 MTV awards was pretty bad.

Pants that came up to his ribs, with some cut out top with huge shoulder pads or something.

Mostly yellow, and oh yeah HIS PANTS SHOWED HIS ASS.

His hair was a bit too tall and pompadourish at the time too.

Okay, those PJs he wore around '97/'98 when he was on tour. They looked alright in photos but when you see him dancing and walking around his legs look like matchsticks.
A Close second would be the Gangster Glam, I didn't mind the hair, but oh lawd those clothes

Basically, anything that starts to be somewhat "conservative" (which has been for the last few years now) for him is "bad fashion" (if you could call it that), IMHO. The Emancipation era really started it all, for the most part; though, I've seen him in outfits since that aren't bad at all. I guess I'm more speaking in general. I miss that flambouyant fashion sense he had!! Ah well...all good things must come to an end.

My sister hates prince and i was watching him when she came in and that video was on. She couldn't belive it, it was so embarrasing, for him i mean, i was like "yeah but his done some good stuff, it was early you know"

Actually if you watch the movie "Under the Cherry Mooon" Prince's clothes aren't too different from the "Purple Rain" era. Still has the Edwardian shirts/jackets and the tight button pants.
