would you like to see prince playing less produced music(the closest he got with rainbow children cd,new) where you can hear him playing some guitar, drums and bass without other instruments.i think prince touched that side of his,
but he never realy explored it.

yeah, i definitely would. prince hasnt been 'raw' though since around 1981. he got closer with udnertaker but that was it. he liked having a 'produced' sound a bit too much for him to ever go barebones or simple. he lieks that sheen too much.

I'd love to hear a raw sounding rock record from Prince... I think about the "rawest" sounding studio song is probably "I Like It There" from C&D. The Rebels project from the early 80's was also very raw sounding.

when i first heard chaos and disorder cd i was thrilled by the thinking that prince's next album "emancipation" would be raw rock cd.
then i found 2 dissapointments.
on emancipation there was no npg(sonny, tommy, michael b.)
and there was nothing remotley raw on that album.he became r-kelly

I sort of disagree…I think he has explored this side plenty and many times (gold experience, Come etc). I do think it’s hard for him to pare it down these days…but he does do it every so often.

I think The White Strips soon will have to expand their sound a bit in order to keep going. Although they are really talented, there’s only so far you can push their sound.

It's one of the reasons I like Chaos and Disorder (except for 2 songs) so much.

Yes, he would sound great just thrashing away on the guitar for a change.

Have you guys heard the punk version of When Doves Cry, by the way? lol

I hope to God he never sounds like the White Stripes.

That meaningless blurry guitar thrashing does nothing for me. I cant understand why people think that White guy has talent on the guitar. I've seen hundreds of bands with guitarists that can do what he does.
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

I'd love for him to cut down on the excessive noise. I still think the Revolution was perfect.

But ven they had a habit of having a lot of excessive noise in their songs. Though, that's what I liked about them...is they could really come up with very complex arrangements and incorporate many instruments into the music.

I find Prince most pared down when he's by himself.

I would love a raw Prince album - REAL bass, drums and GUITARS!

TRC, C&D and certainly The Undertaker are probably the closest, with TGE and Dirty Mind perhaps next. The Truth promised much but failed to deliver - once again he couldn't resist adding unnecessary clutter.

Come is certainly NOT raw and doesn't really fit in with the guitar based "wild" years 1993-96 but then it is basically all the tracks that weren't good enough for TGE.

Emancipation was a major let-down after the albums that came b4. Witha few exceptions it sounds like any other "R&B" album i.e. over-produced prgrammed machines. It definitely misses the contributions from Sonny and Michael B.
